This game takes 5 days to hit level cap and it has very little end game.  The head dev said most people are not at level cap so they are not concerned about end game.

5 days to hit cap and very little end game? Pretty much any Xbox or PS RPG or even PSp's monster hunter has more content and they don't charge monthly fees.  SO why is this a pay to play MMO again? I don't want to be rude but considering it went from 900,000 box sales to sub 100,000k players and 30 servers to 3 med pop servers.  Something needs a reality check.

I dunno after playing EQ1 and 2, WoW, LOTOR, and Guild Wars...this game seems to fall short of most single player RPGs, lost odysee, and FF, tales of whatever, and many other RPGs that take longer to run out of "Stuff" to do. and can't even compare to what I listed.  So how do they justify a monthly fee?

download it for free and try it for 14 days free...

see if you cant get to level cap in that time, the trial has no restriction. using your logic you should be able to get at least 2 characters to level cap. so do that first.

then come back and tell us why its not a mmorpg.

Ya is even easier now that if you have one high loevel you get a second high level free.  Using the head devs logic every one quits the game after level cap or rerolls so why would they add content there.

My logic is MMOs with fees should not have people running out of stuff to do.

What's sad is, I joke that AoC is the best single player game I've ever paid a subscription for.
But that is by my choice.  The game is built in such a way, I can solo any time I want.   I enjoy that aspect.

However, having recently joined a large guild and getting to see some of this group content, AoC isn't lacking in things to do.
Also, MMO's are all the same, content is added as time goes forward.  You're paying for access to the servers, other players, and future developments.   I can agree to a small fact that Funcom doesn't put the content out as frequently as they should, but they still do, and it still keeps things going.  The game has been out for over a year now, the first 6 months of that year were not spent on content updates and additions, rather "oh shyte, this game doesn't work!" type issues.    So they lost some ground.   It seems slowly by surely with their technical issues at bay, they are focusing on new content.   This last patch proves it and it can only really go forward from there.

The game is plenty an MMO, it has plenty to do.   Is it worth the $15.  Nobody can say it is or isn't on behalf of anybody else.
Plain and simple, if you don't want to pay, don't, there are plenty of F2P games out there to waste time on.

I've been registered here a long time, I read daily. I just don't have much to say.

When the Op talks about taking 5 days to hit level cap I would argue that things are different since he last played right finaticd? Unless you want to argue that there has been no content added in the last 6 months and show proof to that effect? Also the real reality check is that everyone is not the same, doesn't level the same.

2600 quests give or take is not value for money?

i thought a mmo was so you can ROLE PLAY your character do quests, instances, hang out, do whatever. not sit there and grind to max lvl within 5  days lol. obviously if they have that mentality than any game they play will just be a waste because they will max out too fast in any game.

And the most obvious answer I hear is that people didn't even know of other parts of content the game had to offer. With the most obvious reason the fact they just rushed through. I mean you don't read a book for chapters 1,2 then 5,6 only out of 12 chapters do you :)

When your geared for a race you often have the blinkers on. A lot of people raced through and didn't even see the xtra stuff around. It is a common theme amongst returning players for example. You often see conversations from people in game detailing all the extra things now available.

Oh I'm sure they added a myriad things to do while leveling, yet over a year later the level capped people still complain and the head dev, to paraphrase was basicaly like....up yours level capped people, there are more sub level 80s. I dunno but always seemed like even the sub level caped people had a main in other games. It doesn't make much sense. I could care less, I just don't get the logic train and it seems like the hype has been falling lately, on X fire and forum trafic trackers. Oh well.

Lets look at the term a couple people used here, MMO. More and more people seem to be confused on what these 3 letters means. Massive Multiplayer Online. It has nothing to do with how much stuff there is to do. All this means is many people online at the same time. You also forgot that there is generally 3 more letters after that, RPG. This is where the type of game play comes in. Which this game falls into that catagory.

Your first question in your topic name is flawed right from the start. As far as your second question in the topic, I have no idea. Game quality does not reduce the fact that it is indeed a MMORPG however.

Hmm 5 days to hit level cap.

I assume you have PvE level 80 character thats also PvP level 5 ?

Gratz man, I know quite few people that managed to level up PvE 80 in 2 to 3 days ( especially in the begining when game was released and you couse (ab)use apprentice.

p.s. I dont play AoC since March ( or any other MMO )

If you hit lvl cap with ANY char in less that three weeks that means you have serious lack of social life . Apart from that i can guarantee you that there is plenty to do after lvl cap. I for one find PvP in this game one of the most challenging and if you are using a melee class you won't master it in 5 days.

so don't play it. let  those who like it play it, and find a game you like, or, perhaps, just frquent forums like this and annoy people - perhaps that is your mmo of choice. Myself I didn't like AoC but I didn't start threads about how poor a game it is( it is not good nor bad imho - I just didn't care for it).

I am not an AoC fanboi, but OP sounds like a troll to me.

5 days to max level? Maybe if it is your third char and you know how to quickly grind the game and play 24 hours per day, but even then ...

I got a level 25 I believe, that took me over a month to achieve ...

Why would people buy a game then rush through it...playing every hour of the day..(be nice to have that much free time)...then reach cap and complain it was too short. Apparently maxing crafts and obtaining the best gear,,and completing every quest....only talking to others to group and finish quests....then immediately leave group without a thanks. Why do you bother playing any games...especially mmos?...on the other hand..if it took  10x the current time to max level a toon..you'd bitch that its too slow to level and fail...fail...fail. They should just make a game called "EndGame: The MMO for Whiney Arse Bitches"...and have rotating 100 man Instances to run 2000x over...since that's what its all about. You could probably even say it's an mmo but have only NPC's with names like "RentTOPwn" and "L33TM34T69"...but iit's actually a single player game. You'd never know the difference.

I haven't subbed to AoC in a few months because of time constraints..but I thought it was a very enjoyable and visually stunning game then....looking forward...when time allows....to try  it out again... post  the new patch.  Do me a favor....I know you guys don't know me from Adam...but if you hate the game...and will always hate the game no matter what Funcom does...then by all means...for my sake...please keep hating the game. Then I won't have to deal with you when I re-sub.

Of course they are going to say that!! Dude your the minority if you run through the content and reach level cap too fast. Why the hell do you think the Devs are going to do anything about it? Thats just ingorant and pretty idiotic on your part. The majority of the players actually do not play 20 hours a day smashing through the content, they enjoy it and actually play the game how it should be played.

I have no simpathy for players like you, you actually ruin the experiance for me sometimes.

ENJOY THE DAMN GAME DUDE!!

umm actrually your term is incorrect. MMO is short form of Massively Multi-player Online.

so yes AOC is a MMO in that you log in Online and play with other Players around the world in a Massively large game world.. instead of the standard (host your own game server ingame and have X people join your game room to play for X hours)

i think what you were looking for was MMO-RPG.

tho im pretty sure as much as AoC follows or attempts to follow the AoC stories its more of a PVP then a RPG.

RPG is more of a Final Fantasy or Wing Commander based style.

It's considered an MMO because it's an MMO

They charge per month to cover the cost of developer team and server park
