When are the obsessed type fans of AOC finally going to understand that when they post misleading information like the OP generally does, that it is actually harming AOC's reputation more and more each time. |

However i think you are wrong that attention (negative or positive) is bad for the game. There is an old saying that "all pr is good pr" that imo also applies to AoC. "Out of sight out of mind" also applies. Its important for fans that AoC is kept on the top of the attention span of hard core MMO players on this site. Thats why all these post are actually helping the game. Playing: Not anymore. Just lurking. |

It is truly no fault to download the AoC-Trial and take a look at the changed, polished and improved AoC. Take a look by yourself and dont get fooled by fans and haters - true man (and woman) decide for themself! Numbers are only rumors - FC is making money as it is shown in their last fincancial report and updates and patches are planned for years to come. |

There are no restrictions on the trial you know. You can level up extremely fast if you know what your doing and have the time. The whole thing about people telling you the games changed, the games complete now all the way up to 80 and they are planning to release more endgame content next patch. Cant tell you if the endgame is good enough to keep me subbing for years, but levels 1-80 are a blast, and the scenery is unmatched if you have the rig. Right now the biggest gripes about the game are class balance issues regarding the switch to using trickle down stat effects, like primary stats effecting secondary ect. To be honest the effects arenot that drastic, just some skills work diffrent or are less effective. Its like go play the trial and come back complaining about class balance, since they fixed all the stuff that people who quit a year ago experienced. I would also like to add that it really doesnt matter about sub numbers and sales, if funcom could keep anarchy going for so long after its launch im sure aoc will be around for a while. There are populated servers, well populated, and the games where it should have been a year ago. |

Originally posted by crunchyblack Population and Sub numbers matter alot, if things like a steady Dev Cycle providing fixes and the filling out of the missing game features are important to you. They certainly did keep AO alive, and used the sub money from it to dev AoC. Have fun paying for Conan's continued beta, while FC uses that money to dev TSW.
If the game were truely 'where it should have been a year ago' FC would have started the Win Back, they haven't. You are still a Guild patch, a Caster revamp patch, a Sieges patch, a PvP level / Reward patch and an End Game content patch away from being 'launch ready'. Having seen the last 12 months of the dev cycle, I think you are easily another 8 months to a year away from filling in those holes. Have fun playing the expansion, while the original mechinics are still broken // missing. |

Take for instance the number of people who feel burned by funcom. Opening the floodgates allows them in as well. Considering the way these people post on forums, it would be of no surprise if some took the opportunity to act out their anger on the community at large. Just as many former SWG players did the same on their free time. In game protests, harassment, player created lag by purposeful congestion etc... were some of the methods used. As for whether the game is where it should have been at launch. That can be a subjective opinion, formed by seeing for yourself. In my humble opinion, performance is improved and the new layout for stats is better than before. I still have some doubts about subbing a month on my main account. Mostly because of a beta I am in. However to fully see how things have changed I would need to see it at a much higher level than 15. For every minute You are angry , You lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson |

Well AoC Global chat is notorious as the most un-monitored, foul mouthed, pornographic sewer of a chat channel in any MMO to date. Doubt a returning player can do much harm there. You think returning players might harass other players in game? Well currently very bored folks have formed gank squads to camp any new player trying to progress threw Tortage on PvP servers. So I can't see a Former player making that situation worse. They certainly can't gather en masse to 'protest' or lag out a PF, a new instance of the zone would be created to limit the number of players. How is it you think a large group of players can make the game experience worse for the current players? And why do you think that FunCom would care about the current player's game experience? especially if they had a chance at 3-4-6-8 times the current subscription fees? Being afraid of the former subscribers is hilarious, FunCom's handling of the game's future is what you should really be worried about.

He said both actually, He said 3rd biggest selling mmo at gamestop which is near meaningless when compared with other sites like amazon but at least he is being accurate (assuming the gamestop ranking is accurate) He also said 4th biggest selling pc game at gamestop which was wrong on every level, |

2 things to think about here 1) they did a server merge and have less than half the servers they had this time last year. It may just be a coincidence that performance improved as the population dropped, but I think not. If even 500K vets all came back at one time my theory their servers would turn into the lag pit from hell. 2) There is already a free trial which is not doing much to help the game. If it still sucks between level 1 and 30 it will suck between 30 and 80. Besides I don't think the game has inproved enough to flip any vet trials into subscriptions. |

Of course they want back any jane or joe that will throw them a buck. That's not the point I was making, everything I listed was an example of things that plagued SWG's servers, when they opened up trials for vets to try the nge. Servers were crashed by players to name just one other example. In SWG this wasn't as hard of course, given the stability of the code in the first place, However don't think for a minute players couldn't cause problems on funcoms servers if they chose to. They already have precautions to combat this on their trial as it stands with the restrictions they have in place. Whether this is something funcom thinks about or not I couldn't say, either way it's a possible scenario whether they plan for it or not.
