AO Launch - failure, massive bugs

AO: Shadowlands Launch - failure, half of the zones in SL werent even accessable.

AO: Alien Invasion Launch- failure, player shops not implemented into game til at least 3 months later

AO: Lost Eden - IDK, gave up on this game after AI, I'm sure half the features were broken at launch.

Dreamfall - One of Funcom's best gaming efforts (never played The Longest Journey) was incomplete, all that story to end up with the protagonist in a coma and none of the plot lines concluded.

Funcom consistantly releases unfinished products, AOC is just par for the course.

I have seen games end with missing pieces before but the Dreamfall ending is a bundle of loose threads that leaves players with a very bad and bitter taste. The Longest Journey was fantastic and the wait for a sequel seemed worthwhile. But what a major disappointment when it finally came. Although the gameplay was fine and the overall storyline held attention, it seems that the non-ending was developed simply so players would look forward to a few more years of waiting for another sequel. If they had promoted this as part two of three parts, players would have been prepared for the MAJOR let down. SHAME on the developers for this ploy. If it's not a ploy, then what began as a promising plot was brutally destroyed by the end of it all.

Just that things like rehashed resist mods and expansions aren't all that relevant to the 50$ most spent on this game a few months ago .By the looks of things no matter what they do , Most who complain will never be happy . So why bother beating a dead horse?

When part of the content in the new expansion is what was said to be in the orginal game then it becomes relevant to the first 50$.   Next payd expansion should NOT have ANY part of content for the 1-80 lvling part.  IT should NOT have DX10 feature finally added and it should NOT have siege battles, Player city features and  finalised fully working PVP sytem with fugitive system and PVP items.  ALL this is what was said to be in the game.  THis is not in the game and I can promise you that most of the payed expansion content will cover this - instead of adding it in as free content patching.

LOTRO is a great example on how things have been done correctly in this matter.  They gradually improved the features they said were in the game at launch.  And they did it for free.  Now the game is in the state of adding new payed for content.   You know as well as me that AOC will NOT have the expected and promised launch content in the game in 5-9 months.   Specially considering they are already more than one month behind on what they said would be in the game at this point.

There is a reason alot of ppl are slagging FUncom atm.  And they have full right to do so.  SOE is a GOD compared to what Funcom is up to.  And its starting to shine through.

but hey lets just see what they have added to the game by than. if they only added as much content as in AO u wouldnt be able to keep up with it :) but hey theres still more than enough ppl playing it, so who needs to get a clue? i think both haters and fans are right in their own ways/tastes...

It however said nothing at all about what was coming in the expansion , the only mention of it was at the end of the article , Everything else that was discussed was about Bug fixes coming over the next few months.

Critique is one thing (everyone has a right to do so) , making stuff up and speculation is completely different however.

I have to agree with people that are not to thrilled with Funcom talking about expansion packs already.  To me that says they don't really care enough to put everyone on the live project to get it finished the way it should have been, but instead want more money.

This is drawing to many paralelles with SOE for me to be optomistic.

Well - Even Vanguard was not so stupid to talk about expansions when the game was bleeding bugs and content.  Not to mention ppl leaving because of these issues.

Well, Age of Conan set for fast expansion, But an expansion to finish a unfinished game and they expect me to pay for that?. I've never seen an MMO releasing an expansion so early after the release of the game, It kinda sound like money milking. Beside early 2009?, more likely 2010 (Funcom are incapability to stick to deadlines)

It however said nothing at all about what was coming in the expansion , the only mention of it was at the end of the article , Everything else that was discussed was about Bug fixes coming over the next few months.

Again - Mymir's pass is not the fix for even half of the huge problems the +55 content has atm.  ITs a small area with few quests that is "due" in August.  Just like the whole PVP system was due in June.  Get it ?  its all PR.    OFC they will not say right now that the payed expansion is only the missing content in the orginal game.  That will come l8ter when they have piled up enough stuff to say its to much to get into one big patch.  When the patches in the 5 months before have not had any content updates.  This is how the small companies do it.  This is how Funcom does it.

Honestly every game is in this same place today with few exceptions. Sure it's easy to say the game isn't ready for an expansion , That's a given . However until they decide to give up on fixing the actual game , Its quite absurd to crticize them for doing so . I'm all for voicing concerns , Given those concerns are vaild . Which In the case of the OP they aren't (as of yet anyway )

I never said it was or wasn't PR hence why I gave two possibilities , Just keeping my optimistic or pessimistic feelings in check. My point is the information the op gave was false , Is there a problem with pointing that out?
