Funcom PR ppl were at E3 talking about the great launch and their polished game !

http://www.massively.com/2008/07/15/e308-erling-ellingsen-talks-patch-timeframes-for-age-of-conan/

On official forums

http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=135004

Now - this is why I hang around to warn ppl what is really going on.  They are still lying to ppl.   And some of us need to make sure all the ppl they are trying to fool know what Funcom stands for.

MMORPG Character Monuments

...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest...

I think some of the biggest problems is that players have become so jaded that once they form their opinion, they are incapable of stepping back and trying to look objectivly.

They stating that AoC is Polished - Wrong
You Stating that AoC is terrible - Also wrong

The real answer lies in between, the vast majority of the AoC playerbase (the ones who dont frequent the forums) say "AoC is a Decent game" ...not the next diety of online gaming and not the biggest failure of all time...just a decent game

"How do you feel about the transition from the Beta to Live experience? It seemed as though those final patches changed a number of things and smoothed things out.

A lot of people were saying that we put in "miracle patches", and it really feels that way. Even for us at Funcom, the last couple of weeks was a real turnaround. We knew we were on track, but the last few weeks before launch everything just came together. That's the thing about MMOs, though, they can look unfinished for so long and suddenly all the pieces of the puzzle fit together. Thank god!"

Vomit material

And its stupid things like this that they say that gives them even less credability.

The miracle patches were nothing more then removing of animations/effects and reducing the number of players in each instance and the removal of the debugger in the background. For being such a super-instanced game AoC's performance is really really bad.

What he is saying is actually not stupid, everyone who knows about this game knows that there was a patch just before release that turned the game around.

He is stating fact no more no less so it cant possibly affect his credability unless of course you have a biased view from the start.

Lets face it, MMOs today are turning into single player console games with a chat box included.

laughable

There was no miracle about those patches.  Maybe it was for Funcom cause the closed beta servers were unplayble for a whole week cause of the 10k lag issue.

But Im pretty sure that the ppl that payed for the game and are STILL not able to play cause of memory leaks and FPS issues dont look at those patches as miracles.

But... to point out another http://vault.ign.com/View.php?view=editorials.detail&id=71

"Conan’s launch was one of the most successful launches ever for a mmorpg save for a few customer services issues that have since been remedied. "

Ye... the customer service  problems were that some customers were able to publicly complain on official forums I guess... before they were banned and posts deleted.  But like said - this has now been taken care of.  If you dont belive me - then I can point out that the link to the tread about this interview has been deleted from the official forums.  Why ?  Becuase ppl were outrageus about the crap beeing said in that interview.

Well as far as i know, as i didnt play beta, the beta players were under the impression that the game would crash and burn since it was so laggy, only to find that it was patched just before release.

So from going from "crash and burn" to playable is some form of a miracle from the players point of view, check back in these forums and you will see for yourself, the posts indicating that it will fail.

As far as memory leaks go now, they may still exisit but tbh i dont experience them. That doest mean to say that they are not there however. But ultimately they will be fixed.

I actually consider the release a success, why, beacue i could log on without queuing i had no major bugs and did not crash, compared to other games i would say that that is a successful launch.

As for customer services, i do think they were overwhelmed with issues, but that is not just down to Funcom, as there were 1000s if not more petitions on things that people simply didn't know how to do, and instead of going to find out, they would rasie a petition, which will need to read and addressed before being discarded, all this take time. So yes they were lacking but thus is not soley there fault. And ultimately the servers were up almost 100%.

Fanboi is not a word, it is just bad grammar.

It is a good thing people like you and the SWG "Vets" are there to look out for us.

I mean, who knows  what would happen if we actually had to decide for ourselves...
