Yesterday Funcom held official launch party for Age of Conan.
They invinted 150 fans and 300 representatives of major computer game sites and magazines.

Funcom showed the game in its best light - Combat , city building , spellweaving , character creation ... etc

Since this was a major event - let use our common sense and assume that Funcom used very best PC possible  for this demonstration. PC that had game optimised , and all shaders were preloaded (meaning they played the levels they showed at least once on this PC).

Now think that you very possibly do not have PC custom build and optimized with one sole purpose - to show and demonstrate AOC. Understand that 45 seconds is the absolute fastest time to load this zone.

Remember , that everything you enter AOC gives you loading screen.

The last miracle patch in beta made loading times <30 sec. I can confirm that on my mainstream PC.

HD3850 512 MB
2GB DDR2 RAM
AthlonX2 6000+
XP 32 bit

Nothing high end here and is taking me less then 30 sec to load.

Ive been playing AoC and I got a pretty decent rig only place ive ever had long load times is loading into the Main city. Other then that its Sub 15 seconds

Not true you troll, the only reason they put a 45s load screen, yes it was on purpose, was to allow for people to catch their collective breath before going out and get into immurisve battle with 400000 people in one area to siege!!!!

Think about that for a second Dar , with the amount of loading in Conan you will be fat and die of cancer in the first month

I'm not surprised, Tortage for me on a 5 month old computer took about 1 1/2 minutes to load.  Content of the game I really thought had potential but the technical side might be the downfall, what a crappy way to go out lol.

I should work out during loading if its as bad as claimed, thank-you for my new phyisque if so Funcom ;)

 While I agree 45 seconds is a bit long, I dont think its that long. My lotro takes about 23 seconds. Mind you I have it set to load almost the whole world so I have no lag in game hehe. The question is, how is the preformance in game? How will the game preform with optomization? How far ahead is the game of the computer system curve? Sometimes it takes a long time for a game to catch up with what people consider normal computing specs.

Hmm.... I am just posting this so people , do not get misinformed by fanboys claiming (falsely) that loading screens are no issue.

They might not be game breaking.  But they add up. And eventually they will begin to be frustrating.

Single loading screen is 45 seconds on best PC.

You have loading screens for everything , from dying to entering a simple door in dungeon or house.

Its adds up.

5 minutes playing, 1 minute loading. 5 minutes playing, 1 minute loading...and so on.
