Combat, just that simple.....

It still isn't where it needs to be, but it is best out there right now IMO.

I love the atmosphere of it, the deep storylines, the blood and carnage, the women, the drunken mayhem, the decaptiations and victories, wars, sieges. It's just everything you could want in a game , and its finally here after I wake up tomorrow! BY CROM!!

Sure, the ability to participate in siege warfare is a nice feature.

Sure, the graphics look beautiful.

But also, the game looks to demand much more of a high end computer just to play it smoothly which is a huge negative.

I honestly think people wanna see blood in their games of this nature. WoW and LoTRO certainly don't deliver the graphic and bloody content that AoC promises in its videos.

And we all know how much sex sells. That's a no brainer.

So that's my question and my focus of discussion in this thread...

Are Sex and Graphic Violence the main reasons that Age of Conan has had so many pre-orders and likely had much better then expected success at this stage of the game? Why or why not?

The Reason AoC is doing so well, is not just because of the M Rating, I don't see a whole lot of Sex going on, but Violence is indictive in EVERY single game.  Hell, even Toontown has a level of violence. 

To me, The Conan market is high.  The movies are good and the Books.. well, if you've never read a Howard book, you are missing out.  The stories are so lush and filled with excitement, you may not wanna play the game just yet.  The books are exrtremely facinating.

I think it the great timing of the release. WAR been push back for another 6months and it the only PvP game that came out for years.

This what made me buy it.

Tolkien has been the single greatest influence on fantasy games, and bringing his Lord of The Rings to life in a fantasy MMO not only made perfect sense but was great marketing opportunity.

Also, diehard fans DO pick up this game because it is based off of the novels and not the movie trilogy, and we all know how much diehard Tolkien novel fans hated the movies.

The primary reason? = Conan is the machine of death... dancing combat machine
