I was disappointed I didn't get my key from the Funcom store to give me the chance to register, I'm not going to lie to you about that. But I was sat at my pc last night watching the AoC forums explode when it occurred to me that perhaps not getting into early access and being there on launch day may be a blessing in disguise. I've been a part of quite a few first day launches over the years EQ2, SWG, CoH, CoV, WoW etc. Thinking back on those first day launches I remember the server reboots, lag in newb areas, random disconnects, client crashes, spawn camping etc. Yeah its great to see a new World and to be the first to visit a new area and discover new things in game but first day launches can be very frustrating and in some cases disappointing experiences too. Now don't get me wrong if Funcom came to me and handed me a key and said " pay your 5 clams and you are in " I would be there in a shot, I'm a MMO addict after all, but I must admit to be secretly relieved that I'm not going to have to put myself through that all over again. Am I the only one who feels like that? I know this going to be a lot of peoples first MMO and your first MMO is kinda like your first love, but its never quite the same the 2nd and 3rd time out. A lot of people are understandably upset because of that. I plan on giving the game maybe 2 weeks, if I can last that long, and then diving in to find all that this game has to offer. This is the first time in a while that I'm not rolling PvP so maybe that's taken the pressure off a bit. To all those who got in, well done and good luck. To all those to who this is their first introduction to MMO's, savour it take in everything you can and get out of the game as much as you can because it truly is never going to be quite same no matter what game you move on to. See you all in Hyboria, for those in the EU drop me a line in game, I go by the name Janus where ever possible or my old SWG name Aegeax. |

I dont intend to start playing first day. But Im getting closer and closer to buying the game within the first week if the infastructure and lag problems will not be around at that time. I have seen enough of the game now to find a path that I would like to take and the addictive part is starting to shine through now. It automaticly does so when less bugs are in the game. This game will probably have 1 week anyway to convince alot of ppl if the game is worth buying. I hope FC manage to pull it off - but I still have my doubts. But lets say Im more optimistic now than I was week ago. |

Patience is a virtue, reason a necessity |
Are you in the EU? I am assuming you are. All I can say is I was able to purchase early access and am looking forward to playing this saturday when the early access becomes available. So Im assuming that EU will not be allowed to have early access or is it just that they ran out of slots for the pre-order for it? Eitherway your right that moving on from this to another MMO wont be the same. I remember when I played EQ like a good follower almost everyday ritually. Iksar Monk was my favorite class/race. In some ways though AOC will be alot like everquest and which is one of the major reasons I want to get in it. Anyway im mumbling sorry you couldnt get in Janus, but hopefully Ill see you in game, or if not crush some skulls ftw?

Originally posted by Alan0n I have high hopes for this game, its a little hard not to get carried away when a new one comes out. This game has the potential to be a diamond amongst the rough. The haven't really been any quality releases for a long time ( that's my personal opinion before anyone flames me I'm hoping for a relatively smooth launch and solid subscriber numbers. But only time will tell.

Stand up for what you believe; Even if you stand alone. |
Originally posted by Janus35I also agree this game has quite a lot of potential. I don't have it preordered but two friends watched me play some and decided to preorder right away hehe. Maybe in a few months I will get it myself... but I think I want to give ti a while to iron out the kinks. My machine is starting to show her age so... waiting is probably a best bet for me right now as it will make the game that much more playable when I do get into it. I do however think that most people who will be playing will have an excellent time. |

Originally posted by Wakygreek Yeah I'm in the UK mate. It would be an honour to crack some heads with you in game. The reason I didn't get in was that I never got a key from the Funcom store pre order. But that water under the bridge mate, I'm not going to lay blame at anyones door. These things happen and there has been too much bad feeling about it and I'm not going to add fuel to the fire. I'm looking forward to getting in game and joining a good Guild and having a ball. |

Im not going to wait a few weeks because Ive found that if you miss the first initial wave of people it gets exponentially harder to EVER catch up. |

Originally posted by Kenze I think that's true if you roll PvP, without a doubt some guys rolling PvP will be at a disadvantage. But for a PvE I don't think its such a problem. You do get hard-core gamers on PvE but also a lot of casual gamers too. I personally don't feel as much need to keep up with the Jonses on a PvE shard than I do on PvP. |

Seriously this game isn't like Lineage 2 where it takes forever to level. So don't worry about falling behind. |

Originally posted by Slythe My concern isnt so much about the PVP side as it is the PVE side. Ive found if you miss the initial wave of people that you tend to put yourself at a disadvantage in regard to grouping and moving forward with the core community of your given server. Thats why you see so many people who start Older MMOs these days(eq.eq2.wow, etc) complain about not being able to find groups. the majority of players have already found their "clicks" and they tend to stick with those they've been with from the beginning. |

Heres my 2 cents; now that the NDA is lifted I can spill. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! As the game sits now it so so unbalanced that unless your playing the flavor of the minute class you cannot win in PvP. The system crashes constantly, though Funcom is promising a "MAGIC RELEASE CLIENT" just like Vanguard Saga of Heroes did when it released. The game looks awesome, although it doesnt look like DX10 graphics are going to make the release. The combat system is jerky at best, and all of the spawn points in PvP are camped constantly. I do not see at this time how this game is releasing, dont get me wrong I am VERY hopeful that the game goes off without a hitch, but my impression (and I have been in the beta since november) is that the game seriously lacks any kind of FUN or long term appeal. |
