To me it means "This game is not for those under 17" Isn't that what it Normaly means?

Well to some it seems like it means  "Only Smart Asses and Elitest should play this game"

what do you think it means when it comes to Games.

M is political for  adult language or images

as to the audience for Adult rated stuff

who knows...

Mature subject matters and story, including more than elementary school reading level.

I am really hoping it means " My mom wont buy it for me" to those that are underage.

What's with the "smart asses and elietists line"? I really don't get where that's coming from.

Unfortunately, to most people who don't pay attention to the ratings system, i beleive (now this is just my opinion) this attracts young to mid age teens. It's in their nature to like the M rating and do things which can cause bragging. Howm any times as a kid did you sneak into an R rated movie and brag about it with your friends? Or when GTA came out (i was in my early years of HS when the first came out) and had your friends over to show it off? I did. While as a parent today, i wouldn't expose my kids to it, the sad fact is that they will get their hands on it for this reason. Hell GTA was the hottest game in my HS when i was there, and i was below the age required to pick it up. I went right into the store, and bought it, noone asked my age or cared.

just on another note....i HATE leet speakers............despise them......abhor even. General chat has been full of them in game, so while M rating may mean mature, it usually has the opposite effect.

Thats why I'm hoping they put a set of gigantic bare boobs of the front of the box so that when mom see's what jr is trying to by she says, "hell no". Then dad sneaks back to the store and buys it later for himself :p

The "M" rating is a ploy. Go "AO" or don't.

Unfortunately age has nothing to do with maturity these days.  I have seen some Twelve year olds that are more mature than some Thirty year olds.  I really enjoy AoC but I do fear that the "M" rating is going to bring out the worst in the community. . .Hopefully the ignore list has no limits.
