Truly was the most amazing game back in its day... remember rebuffing every 5minutes surrouded by othlio and having plays cover you while you did so...

Just roaming about in a group smashing in face to face action battle! finding chests and opening them for loot! ( random spawns )

many many great times in that game.

Game also still has monthly updates! so your paying per month actully gets you something each month!

I remember BDC fighting Olthi and watching out for players coming in trying to raid you and loot all you're stuff. My heart never pounded so fast, such an amazing experience.  Thu Nov 08 2012 6:30PM Report

Good story. AC had a smallish playerbase compared to games today. It is hard to educate many people how great that game was/is especially at it's community peak. There was a huge rift between EQ and AC. They are such completely different games and seeing how the direction of games patterned off of EQ far more than AC it is hard to discribe the elements of the game that made it great.

Honestly most of the greatness of the game was pure fluke. Tons of features came out of almost glitches that later became features and expanded upon. Pvp was amazing. Even on pve servers the largest guilds had their perma-red teams that competed every day and town battles were incredible. You actually fought over the world you played in which is the ONLY meaningful pvp a game can ever have.

I loved the skill system. I loved the item system. I loved the holiday patches. I loved the playerbase that had time to chill in the subway. I loved the vassal/allegiance system. I thought the story was ok. I thought the combat was fairly mediocre.

I wish some of those awesome elements were brought back into other games though.

There will certainly never be another MMO like it. It's funny... the game shipped with a built-in physics engine that has yet to be duplicated 13 years later; rather amazing. I thought the graphics and landscape, mainly the landscape, are rather beautiful even today.

I highly enjoyed AC2 as well, but AC will always be the best game I have ever played. Players had a sense of loyalty amongst each other. I remember sitting around the lifestone in Eastham on the Solclaim server and just chatting about our adventures. I have no never done that in any game since Asheron's Call. It completely immersed me, my friends, and family members.

@zekeofev the patches were amazing, I remember the holiday patch where snow fell and was on the ground and we were also able to hunt for Matty Robes. Some of the best memories came from this game.

@Padre-Adamo totally agree, haven't seen a physics engine like it to this day, granted Darkfall Online comes close but I hope to see an AC3 or something come along that compares, fingers crossed for the sake of mankind. :)

@AtlanNor Wasn't that the best when a player would help a new player and show them the ropes!

Easily my favorite game ever!  The PvP was intense and unmatched by any other game since.  The skill system and ability to dodge projectiles made the game great.

I'd play it again if it was free to play, or they created a DT2 server.

Nice job on the video Ripper!  So much nostalgia, keep it up.
