I was a subscriber to this game for years, having started playing it in its first year. At one point I had three separate active accounts for almost 3 years running. I loved the open environment, and the total flexibility of the character design system. I gave the game up because Turbine really hasn't done much beyond maintaining it for a long time. The regular content adders grew smaller and smaller, and largely became patches with a few perks. The lore, which was absolutely the best (even better in my opinion that Warcraft) seemed to stop being a central focus. If you go back to the original storyline, it was an excellent story of enslavement by an alien race (the olthoi) of humans who ended up on Azeroth. The story around that conflict in the early years was fantastic. The newer storylines don't come close. And unfortunately, unlike Blizzard, who are readying a complete reworking of their original world to upgrade the features for players, Turbine has done nothing beyond a mediocre graphics upgrade that really didn't do that much to improve the games appearance. AC was dated five years ago. Today it looks positively antiquated. I really wish Turbine would put the time, energy, and money needed into AC. This game still has the potential to be the best of the genre. It just needs a whole lot of TLC. It obviously has a strong fanbase, or it would have died long ago. If I didn't still have a soft spot for it, I wouldn't be writing this comment.
