AC uses this novel thing called coordinates. And they work almost just like in real life. Weird huh.

I love the AC map and the coord system, makes you find stuff then you remember where it is. instead of a huge X in a zoomed in mini map showing everything. after years i know for a fact i can log in, go to yaraq and find metos just off the environment alone. |

Yes it's a shame when there isn't a giant X or a pointer right to your quest destination.

Must be too young to recognize point coordinates when he sees one.

Originally posted by lovebug So EQ1 started with no map. You made a hotkey '/loc', which gave you x and y axis coordinates. You repeatedly hit your '/loc' key watching the numbers change until you were at your destination. You knew your destination, because someone was standing there physically, /telling or /yelling the /loc and/or you windowed out of the game and looked it up on allakhazam. Finally EQ1 gave you a blank map. You had to draw the map yourself and put all the markers in place. You still navigated the original way until you had personally marked it. So tell me again, that AC2 has the worst map system you've ever seen, and that is after experiencing what I just described. |

Originally posted by lovebug No offense but I can not possibly believe you played EQ1 and DAoC and dont understand the coordinates. One set of numbers is " up and down", the next set is " left and right" is the easiest explanation. |

Originally posted by jdnewell That's exactly what I was thinking lol. People claiming to have played certain old school MMO when in fact, its pretty clear they haven't, is really funny stuff lol. Especially when you see someone explaining to the OP how EQ1 worked which in fact, used the same system that the OP claim to hate. |
