Would be it be hard for Turbine to use the graphics from AC2 but keep the game mechanics from AC1? I miss playing the game but I just can't play with the graphics the way they are. I played AC for over five years and it will always be my favorite MMO style. Turbine could keep the customer base they have right now in AC, who enjoy playing the game as is. I don't know a thing about game development but I know alot more people would play AC with better graphics. They could make an AC 3, use the graphics from AC2, which isn't being used now for anything. The only real change they would need to make is importing spells and skills and I'd pay to play the game. |

Pretty sure LOTRO is using the same engine as AC2 |

Yes I know, what I was thinking was the actual graphics from AC2. The armor, weapons, and terrain. Sorry about the cofusion. |

AC2 and AC1 had very different engines. One major change was AC2 was when they started using meshes, where as AC1 uses segmented models. For that reason you can't take ac2 art and bring it into AC. AC2 had a much different systems engine, therefore it most likely would not be very easy to take AC1 systems/gameplay and put it into the AC2 engine.
So method 1, moving art from ac2 to ac1 would be near impossible (plus the ac1 engine wouldn't be able to handle all the polys). Method 2, would be very difficult and would be essentially the same is cost and effort as making a whole new game.
But as I always say, anyone who won't play AC for the graphics, also won't stick with any game long enough to be counted as a money making customer. They are the ones who will perpetually jump to the next new MMO to get the next new graphics. |

You don't stop playing because you get old - you get old because you stop playing. |

Damn straight - I want to play AC because as a game, it's head and shoulders above virtually every other game out there - not the graphics. They're clear and easily understood - cute toons or anatomically correct avatars make next-to-no difference. Give me character development variety, an active global storyline and an open world every time! Now if only I could connect to the damn servers past the antiquated tech they use, I'd be a happy bunny..... |

If using Vista/7 did you make sure to NOT install AC to the program files directory, or to make sure it had administrator access?
If so did you try this link? http://forums.ac.turbine.com/showthread.php?t=44535 |

Not like they would acctually listen to something that would work lol If the did it would blow any game made away and they would have a great game and make a lot of money but, I guess they don't want that lol I just wish this would happen and wished for years................PLEASE make AC3 TURBINE it will be a success if you do it right like ac1 with real looking graphics and all the same game dynamics portal systems rule! The IP deservers a completely new game with the spirit of the first game, not just a revamp of the first game with a more modern engine. Yeah, they might mess this up of course but they could also get it just right. Playing the game should remind you of the first game and have the wonderous feeling the first game had but it shouldn´t just be a copy. |

AC2 was such a huge failure I don't think they will ever give it another try.
I think I recall playing AC WAY back in the day with a buddy a few times (I could never get into the casting requirements). I barely remember trying AC2 a few times... Don't recall why I never played it much. Probably why it failed. |
