Consolidate all servers into 1 pvp and 1 pve. Cease the montly updates and just keep the servers up and running.

Then make it free.

Well lets see, other MMORPG games have done it with success. Why can't AC follow the likes of Anarchy Online and go free, but charge for expansions?  Guild Wars is free after you purchase the game, but have several expansions that can be purchased. Why can't AC do that too?

Also, Turbine has several other MMORPGs both active and in production that can pay for the servers and bandwidth of AC. With the current population of AC, and the age of the game, I 'm sure the servers have already paid for themselves, and bandwidth isn't nearly as high as you think.

The only way this could work is if they make a "premium subscription" plan. Free players can't own houses and certain content. Premium players can own houses and get other benefits.

They could also do like other "free games" by making players pay for specific items, like armor. I prefer the premium subscription method though and it's the easiest to implement.

Too bad Turbine would never do this.

It's too late, Turbine let the best PvP MMO die.

If they really wanted to create a great game they would take AC, redo the graphic/animations, add a heap of new content and rerelease it :D

AC wasn't designed with this concept in mind. It would be extra work for Turbine to make a store and then a way to connect the store to the game.

The game already has a system in place for checking what version of the game someone has (ie. original, DM expansion, or ToD expansion). The free players could just be given the original game. The original game has no housing, no access to the Olthoi island or Viamontian island, many quest items are missing, levels are limited to 126, and some other limitations I'm missing.

I dont think they should or could make it free but they could make it into an arcade game subscription with a few other older game they dont have to be mmo games. In the end i think this could more likely save this game if it dies out, but i dont think its going to die out anytime soon.

woah... I;m not saying I agree w/ the whole f2p thing (or disagree for that matter), but jeez, no need to be harsh man... just take it down a notch and chill.

Making AC f2p would bring in thousands of new players..

At least make Darktide f2p. That would be glorious.

a game needs revenue to expand and update. ever since turbine got AC back it has not faired very well in the monthly updates and the and the lore. maybe turbine needs to update themselves.

Start a brand new Darktide server, and I'll come back with about 20 other people. That's the best I can offer =(
