Hero's Journey News - New GameMaster Types

Posted by Jon Wood on Oct 05, 2006  | 4 comments in our forums

Our friends over at Hero's Journey have added two new GameMaster types, Content Writers and Level Builders.

We've updated our GameMaster applications with two exciting new GameMaster types: Level Builders and Content Writers!

Content Writers are part of our Story team, helping to write and design quests, wyr, heroes, and in-game storylines. Content Writers use their imagination to give the world life through words and events.

Level Builders are part of our World team, and use the incredible HeroBlade tool to sculpt, paint, and assemble the landscape of Hero's Journey. This process, too, requires a powerful imagination, but also an eye for shapes, space, and color.

Both teams are actively seeking passionate, creative individuals! If you applied before, but were daunted by our testing requirements, you may wish to try again!

Good luck!

Sounds like they are done with the engine but are more or less starting with the actual content; that's the impression I get from the articles I have read about the game thus far. Might this mean pushing the release date even further back?

In the blogs and disperse information you can read they have alot of the content finished. I suspect there hiring in-game gms for creating on the fly missions. Due to the fact the game can be added to without major updates as far as missions go do to instancing I suspect its just a beef up stage to power that mechanism. The main world is a whole diffrent story. These gms mite be the equivalent of active content creators like in AO.

First let me say that I am a big fan of this game and of this game company. I absolutely intend to purchase and play HJ. So I hate to be critical of them, but once again I feel I must.

This game was supposed to be nearing beta. I don't know what is more disconcerting - the fact that at a point where the game should be pretty far along they need  to hire a bunch of people to write content, or the fact that they have lowered the barrier for attaining that job to someone who can use respectable grammar.

I really love the ideas and philosophy behind this game, but more and more I question whether they have the business expertise, the financing and the professionalism to pull it off. Every time they recruit random people off of message boards to work offsite for little to no pay, I get scared.

Someone needs to take the bull by the horns at this company and start getting this game on track for beta and release. There needs to be some kind of timetable and a serious effort made at meeting it. They need to get some dedicated, professional on site staff and stop farming myriaids of little projects out to free or cheap workers whereever they can find them.

I really want to play this game. Stop scaring me!

Are they honestly not paying the GM's they are recruting? That is a little odd..at the sametime it might actually be a nice place for people interested in this kind of stuff to get their foot in the door. I mean saying you helped create content or was a content writer for a major MMO is going to look good on resumes, regardless if you got paid or not.
