My sugguestion is probably more difficult than I realize. More Races- At least as many races as classes.
I was just thinking about the mentality I've had when Playing different races, it's a whole different game with a different race.

You want one or two that is a loner or outcast (Dhe'nar darkelf in GS or Rakash in DR),
A couple freaks (S'Kra Mur in DR, Taru from FFXI or Half Krovlin in GS)
one or two that are just too cute for words (Taru from FFXI, Aeoli in GS, prydaen in DR - I know my wife only stays interested if her character looks like a teddy bear)
one or two that are just too ugly their mothers hate them (Etherian in GS, Giantmen etc)
three our four 'normies' - Human, Elvan, Halfling, Dwarf

People want choice over all. We do appreciate the vast improvements you've made in the character development field and I am on pins and needles about it. But a 3 race system just isn't enough IMO. I want to play a half dhe'nar Dark Elf and half Krovlin freak Necromancer/Warrior that looks like he is REAL pissed at his father. I want to play a Aeoli healer/cleric that flutters her crimson wings every time that mysterious pissed off darkelf necromancer walks by... It's just completely different - a whole different game with different races.

I certainly can't argue that it does make for a different game.

Of course you are also correct, it would be rather difficult and time consuming.  I'm not certain what the plans are for the races, and even if I was I couldn't say, but I think its fairly obvious that adding that many more races would certainly have an impact on the development of the game.  Some say its taken us far to long as it is!  I'm sure those are just vicious rumors.

That being said, it wouldn't surprise me to see us add more races at some point.  In the meantime, I bet you could get around this to some extent for some character types.  For example, play a similar character and outfit the character so that any distinguishing features are hidden.  Wear a hat, or a deep hooded cloak for example, assuming we have those.  I hope we have those!     Then simply roleplay the character whatever way you wish.  Or just wait and see what races are added and have fun with the existing ones till then.
