felinemagic writes: The graphics are mediocre at best, the UI is unappealing, and the character controls are horrible. Sorry, I just don't care for it. Fri Feb 05 2010 11:10PM
Kordesh writes: A game that was ahead of its time. It's very simple, but at the same time has lots of little things that just sort of draw you in. If only it was a bit more modern in terms of graphics/GUI it would be perfect. Sun Jan 03 2010 4:24AM
Basicgear writes: GRAPHICS - turned all the way up was great, but has a lot of glitches(water not existing while seeing fish swim mid air) // SOUND - great score in the background and responsive to in game actions. // ROLEPLAYING - On the role playing server every player I encountered played their part. // VALUE - Can play for completely free, there is no cash shop involved. // FUN - fun is what you make it, I enjoyed the crafting system that was involved also the longer values. When fighting multiple targets you get bonus XP. // COMMUNITY - Even early on I found a few players, and this game is suppose to be old. // PERFORMANCE/LAG - It has a few issues here and there but nothing too major. // VERDICT - All in all this is an enjoyable game. If you enjoyed the original EQ before the graphics overhaul this game is for you 100%. Thu Nov 26 2009 10:03AM

Aywren writes: First of all -- here's the one game where you can play a fully-functional Dragon character! I’m talking fire breathing, free-flying, claws and fangs Dragon! Good stuff! ------ Besides that, there are 11 fantasy races (including Dragons) and an open character class system featuring 50 different adventuring /crafting schools to choose from. Istaria has a very colorful variety of races — when you see a group of characters together, you’re almost always going to see a great diversity. On top of that, the non-Dragon races can multi-class to your heart's content! ------ The community really shines. Some of the best I've seen in my years of online gaming. It may be smaller... but many of these players have stuck by this game through thick and thin. They’re very welcoming and helpful to new players and are genuinely happy to meet them! ------ Lots of roleplay on the Order shard for those who are interested in immersing themselves in the deep lore of this world. And do take the time to learn the lore of this world -- the quest text is rich with history, insights and background for Istaria. ------ And the crafting -- very deep. If you enjoy a crafting system where the structures you create actually change the face of the world you play in and have function within the community, look no further! Bi-peds buy their own housing lots and Dragons can build their own lairs. ------ Yes, this game looks, feels and plays like an older, classic MMORPG. But it is also heavily mod-able and easy to tweak the UI to your liking. With just a few downloads, some adjustments to the controls and a few new macros in my bar, I was up and playing, not too different than I would some of the newer games. ------ The game client is completely free and download-only from the website. The option exists to play for free for as long as you like -- with the stipulation of having only one character slot, limited to the human race. There's also a 14-day free trial that will allow you a chance to experience all races, including the Dragon. If you decide to go for a paid sub, there are two pricing options available -- lots of choice here. ------ A huge new update for end game players has just rolled out a few months ago. An entire tier of the world is in the process of being revamped and updated even now. Istaria is certainly in development -- don't be shy to stop by and give this game a try! Especially since it now supports Vista/Windows 7! Mon Oct 19 2009 5:41PM
Ravik writes: Fun game. Graphics aren't the best and has some performance issues but it's still fun. Small community but very friendly. Game is strongly community based. Sat Feb 28 2009 12:55AM
Camthylion writes: I played this game when it was first launched it was fun but at the time I liked WoW alot better... so I canceled and whent back to wow then last year I tried istaria again and it was the same as when it launched nothing was rly upgraded had a poor community and CSR team. The game wouldn't allow me to cancel my account so I got billed for a extra 2 months before I had to just contact my bank and have them too stop the game from taking money out. Mon Oct 27 2008 3:56PM
