Maple story is a fun game but it is a complete joke with all the cheating going on. When I first played maple story I had a lot of fun, but until I found out how easy it was to cheat I was immediately pushed away from the game.

I think the grind is about the same as any other MMO. The forums are barely active, besides I saw enough immaturity and flaming in-game to last me a life-time... and of course, the GM's are never on to handle anything.

wasnt so much a grind the "missions" you did for zion, machines, or merovigian were repetitive as hell, other than the specific event missions that are tailored to the story going on it was otherwise a repetitious grind of missions. hack this, kill that, retrieve this, deliver that, escort her, escort him, dont let machines kill them, .....drroonnnnnneeeeee!

want a grind? Lineage2 has a horrific grind, i can sorta tolerate it as the PVp aspect of the game was a good thing to look forward to, and the community was nice, but the economy is screwed so I left not so much because of the grind, but not being able to keep up financially with the wierd insane prices some of the items sold at, or even worse being dependent on Soulshots such as CSS costing maybe 17-18 adena suddently out the blue shooting up to 21-23 or up to 25 adena per shot. or just as bad DSS  going from 11-12 adena to 14-16 adena. greedy creeps in the game and others follow suit. you had no choice cause youd kill mobs so slow and level slow. horrible snowball effect. even mats doubled or tripled prices at one point

how is the grind terrible? im confused i dont play this game dat much............

I've played ALL except 12 of those games, in either trials or as a subscriber (I'm old )

Not one of those games comes anywhere CLOSE to the MS grind. Nowhere close at all whatsoever.

The game I've played most is FFXI, which is notorious for the tough grind,  and even that doesn't compare at all (unless you compare leveling all jobs to 75 to leveling one class to 200 in MS)

Maple Story has THE WORST grind of any game that I've ever tried. And I've tried a LOT of MMOs.

Japanese Maple Story has a 1.5x base exp more than the other versions, and I wish GMS would follow suit.

Pretty much agree on what you say. Repeatedly killing the same thing over and over again, going to buy pots, spam skill button again. This is the main reason i quit. Maybe other people have different opinions though.

Dude, did you just seriously say that? LMPQ,OPQ,and maybe LPQ give awesome exp. Partying(as explained earlier i belive) is awsome exp. Also MapleStory has no skill difficulty. I enjoy it when i wanna check up on the awesome community. Oh and the forums don't cuss or use much racism. You just looked at the first post didn't you. I apoligize i know were you are coming from but honestly maplestory is a good game i won't watch you say it's inferior...

But the fact that these lovers exist is reason enough to just let it lie. In my opinion, all MMO's have a bad grind, but in this very thread someone admitted to being level 97, so, it can't be THAT bad if at least someone still enjoys the game after getting to that freakishly high level. As for me, I have like 13 MMO's on my computer because I have attenion span of a tampon.

So anyway, that' my 2 cents. Maple Story is as fun as anything else in its own right. And the grind is a grind like any other grind.

I would play Maplestory if I had one of those hacking programs. But since I don't have one, I rather not waste my time.

Psh you think Maple Story has the worst grind? Lineage 1 has been out since 1998 and not 1 person on record has reached max level, that is 12 years people. And lineage 2 is almost just as bad with its grind, Maplestory is nothing compared to that.

Too bad.....  MapleStory is second to Lineage for grind!!  Wait, am I wrong?  Not sure I remember correctly that there was another one game that had huge grind.  What was it?

Anyways!  Oy it'll be faults when the Big Bang is on way!   Of course Nexon doesn't care about players' NXs.  That's their loss.

I played Lineage at the beta and just after launch. It wasn't really that grindy. You didn't get quest telling you to kill 10 orcs, but some npcs bought their seals.

But is it less grindy when you get quests to tell you what to do? I leveled in a pretty normal speed. It might of course have gotten worse later. Lineage 2 on the other hand is really grindy.

I always thought it had a horrible grind. I mean sure it isn't as bad as Lineage 2. But at least Lineage 2 had pvp that ended up making the grind a little more worth it in the end. Compared to what, grinding more? Not really my style.

Pandora Saga worst part is the mobs are strong and the pots are espensive so you have to sit after every kill

NO! Silkroad online wins the most grind award. SRO was one badas MMORPG when it first came out tho and that make me wonder why the dev's let a good MMO go to shit, why do they do this bs?

L1 had PvP. The worst grind I did in the game was crafting elf stuff. But of course, it was my second MMO after Meridian so I might consider it a lot worse today. But I had pretty fun for a while.

But the time to make a max level tone in L2 is forever.

I find the grind horrible. I like the combat though. It's different than all other games. Even Guild Wars, my favorite game of all time, was "click" bash through 1+2+3+4 at strategical times. Or if you were a Monk, you played the red bar game. (Which I did quite frequently.)

All in all I will never play retail Maplestory because of the 0x XP.
