The enemy is so dumb! They believe that WE are the enemy! - A famous orc commander. |
Imperator have both, PvE and PvP. All PvP uberness will be earned doing only 1 thing, PvP. I guess this is to hardcore PvP for all those that complain. You wont be able to hunt a PvE mob to get a sword and then be good against players, it just wont work in a weird mixt. I will prolly not do any PvP myself, and I am looking forward Imperator, maybe they will make an exquisite game and maybe I will call this game home. 2 systems, 2 mentality, 2 games. PvP will be the main focus for a HUGE part of the players in Imperator, and PvE for another HUGE part. Will there be more PvE or PvP players in the game, who know? Both sound VERY appealing to real PvE and PvP lovers, of course folks that want to kill a low intel orc to then have an edge over others humans, I will gladly tell you this, the game wont be for you, they want true PvPers! - "If I understand you well, you are telling me until next time. Real PvP dont allow you to gain an edge against players by killing PvE mobs. End of discussion. - "If I understand you well, you are telling me until next time. " - René Levesque about the denial NO on the poll to his dream, project and goal. (Free translation) |

"PvP is not critical. A solid PvE game has the same chance for sucess. The problem is that there are no solid PvE games right now. They have all been peverted into PvP games. The devs use PvP as a excuse to not develope end game content."
Exactly! And when dev's do that, it's kind of cheap since the implementation often has nothing to do with the game world. In CoH I understand it, since the heroes fight the villians. But often it is implemented, as you said, instead of adding value to the original game. If PvP is a natural side of the game I can't deny the greatness of it, but when it is just implemented so the kids can whack each other for no reason, I say no.
To be a bit "over the top", I say: "If you want to kill each other, play CS".
Nothing beats the feeling of well done PvE. |

I can advice you to go see a shrink if you feel the urgre to kill people for no reason. If you think about it (or read the highlighted sentence in it's whole), it's sick. |

Look on the brightside. I think Gladiatorial contests would be awesome, especially with the combat system expected in imperator. Think about it. You. And that other guy...staring eachother down, sidling around in a circle, then pouncing on one another! Locked in an eternal power struggle over eachother! I'm sure that the avid PvP gamer would enjoy that, think of the fame...the prizes...oh man, I can't wait to watch in in one of Romes many sportsbars |

Yes, gladiatorial contests is a good PvP system for this game. Might even try it out if I want a break from PvE a while, and I hope it's fun. Can't wait for this game for many reasons...

I believe as this game evoles it will indeed have a form of PVP, the dev's most likely want to get it right first. Imperator's first expansion may introduce a playable race for PVP.
Roleplaying is the soul of MOG's. |

Yes, roleplaying goes before everything else. Many races (not really necessary), and the ability to customize your looks, comes a long way.

Im not big into PvP unless I hop into Planetside or Americas Army. I find MMOs fun to explore and do missions, but I can understand the PvP aspect being appealing to this game. |

I personally am a mark for unlimited PvP (Lineage 2 style...although I hated that game) but I wouldn't say it's required. Some days, I'm just feeling like an ass, and I want to kill every low level player that walks in front of me. Other days, I just don't feel like fighting other players, and I'd rather just craft or level. I think there's a reason why Mythic chose not to make PvP a focus, and that's because of DAoC. They neveer truly balanced the PvP in that game, and I think they found it to be too much of a headache to implement a faulty PvP system, rather thanintroduce a working, limited PvP system. While Battlegrounds in WoW are tremendous fun, normal PvP did get stale quick. I played on Mal'Ganis as a Shaman, and once you get the basics down (Priests > Shaman > Mage > Rogue all) you realize that the game is kind of imbalanced. Shadow Priests are gods, Warriors will always lose, and Paladins are a laugh (love killing them 3 full times before they die) I'll be playing Imperator for a few reasons though. So I know some of you said you won't be playing this game, but I'd still recommend you give it a shot. Who knows, maybe the new combat system will revitalize the genre? There are actually more PvE gamers, then PvP, its just that the PvP gamers speak alot louder, and complain ALOT more

My guess on this is space combat will come with an expansion like SWG and Jump to Lightspeed. Now, lets just pray that some kind of PvP is implemented as well. Although...PvP doesn't necessarily automatically make a game great. Mythic had such a great thing with DAoC, that I gotta hope this one lives up to hype. |

Mythic seems to have developed the best PvP system out there w/ DAoC. The state-based combat would be a shame to waste on only PvE. I hope they do implement some sort of PvP whether it's at release or with an expansion. I am looking forward to this one, and at the very least will try it.
