Rhoklaw writes: All this video does is remind me of NWN 2, which I dont have to pay to play. Still amazes me that people do pay. Even GW is free and allows for PvP as well. Oh well, AoC fell into the same instance trap and will suffer the consequences. Thu Jun 12 2008 12:21AM
ThrasherGT writes: DDO has the best combat engine, hands down! All the other "click this box, wait, click this box, wait....etc." games are just boring afterwards! If any of You had tried DDO in the past, I urge You to give it another try, as there is Much more content and a higher level cap. DDO RULES!!!!!! Thu Jun 12 2008 5:52AM
the_lizard writes: you have to pay to play in a online persistent world that is continually updated. it's a good game well worth $9.99 a month. Thu Jun 12 2008 6:32AM
Koboldkiller writes: First off you pay a fee for play yes but that fee covers all updates unlike many games where you have to buy the new module. Secondly the combat system is far superior to any other MMO out there. The character development is very deep and the graphics are amazing as well. Why knock it just because there is a fee? Have you played the game? I have played NWN2 and DDO is superior. I have played many other MMO's including the free ones and I would still rather pay to play this one. The new MOD is great and the Monk class has been a good addition. I encourage all to at least try the free trial and I don't think you will be dissapointed, I believe you will not mind paying to play. Thu Jun 12 2008 9:22AM
CdBd3rd writes: KoboldKiller summed it up well. I have also tried lord/Rings Online, and seen the character 'creation' of Age/Conan. ("Creation" beiung that you can bounce the nose, and inflate the bosoms. yay.) Every game will have its' critics, and its' flaws, but this one is certainly worth the time to try it out. kesleri writes: I don't know but this "sample" really doesn't look like anything special, it looks like the casual poorly built and edited trailer of any other free MMO out there. I do not condamn the game as i never played it, i just posted my opinion on the trailer :P Thu Jun 12 2008 3:59PM
daeandor writes: DDO is a niche, and if you are not in that niche, you won't like / agree with the ones that are. DDO is a great game for the AD&D niche, but that is about it IMO. Don't like or understand AD&D? Do the free trial and you are probably going to wonder what you are doing and not like the game. It does not hold your hand like 99% of the other games out there. There is that slim chance that you will find the twitch based combat and AD&D style character development refreshing. Thu Jun 12 2008 4:43PM

You are wrong. What you can see here is something very special. The destruction of the marketplace-tent wasn't a video sequence. It was a real huge ingame live-event. No other onlinegame has such a huge worldchanging eventengine. But you have to been there, if you want to understand what i am talking about. cyri Fri Jun 13 2008 4:11AM
cukimunga writes: Damn that was crazy.. So there is no more Marketplace? I haven't played this game in awhile and recently wanted to start playing again. People bitch about all the instancing but it makes sense in DDO. The Monk add has really made me want to play again cuz Monks are just bad ass. Sun Jun 15 2008 3:54AM
godpuppet writes: Wow they blew up a tent! Whats next.. The White House? Sun Jun 15 2008 7:27AM
moorewr writes: The live event had some serious flaws, but the non-instanced combat and permanent changes to the world were a blast. To anyone thinking of trying the game - it's a free ten-day trial, so why not try it? I've played MUDs and MMOs over the years and this is THE ONE for me. Not just because it is largely D&D 3.5, but because it is almost always fun and challenging. Sun Jun 15 2008 6:05PM
solareus writes: That was amazing!I can bet you they have had that planned for awhile, just like how they have LotRO planned out ... always thinking those Turbine folks :D Thu Jun 19 2008 11:02AM
masterbrood writes: DDO FTL, whats the point of an mmo where you solo instancing %90 of the time? plus this game dosent have very much content at all, this little addition isnt going to change that fact Fri Jun 20 2008 9:49AM
Sovrath writes: Well, it looks cool and I'm glad to see that DDO has such events. However, essentially what they are saying is that the heart of StormReach was a mall, the demons wanted that mall and destroyed/took it away. Not quite epic. However, if players can get over the cutsey city and can get over the instances (they are fine by me as they make sense within the context of the game) then they might find a very enjoyable game. though there is group content, it realy is a group game and shines when played as such. shakaama writes: i never understood why they didn't make ddo more like nwn. instead of instanced dungeons, they could have made the city streets instanced too, well one big instance. in my campaigns those are called a "city campaign", yeah you're going to a dungeon but in the mean time 3 rogues jump out and demand that shiny sword. it's a sad game. cute video though. misternil writes: Blowing up the marketplace?!? Thank the Gods! It was a royal pain in the halfling to run around and try to bet stuff--- poorly organized and designed by someone smoking pipeweed. As for the game... I played it and it was fair. After a couple of months I dropped it due to the fact that I play at odd hours and the need to play in PUGs all the time to get anywhere in levels stunk. Also the game is only VERY loosely based on DnD. The graphics were ok but all the characters tended to look alike. I did like the combat system once I got used to it. All in all I could not justify continuing to play it. Wed Jun 25 2008 8:09PM
