Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited News - Shan-to-Kor Adventure Pack Screenshots

Posted by Michael Bitton on Oct 08, 2009  | 10 comments in our forums

Our Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited gallery has been updated with some new screenshots that showcase a new "Shan-to-Kor" adventure pack targeted at players level 3-5 which is now available on the DDO Store.

In Shan-to-Kor players will explore four hand-crafted dungeon adventures and complete two optional quests in the Steam Tunnels combat area in order to help Wayfinder Dael recover the Seal of Shan-to-Kor.

Check out the new screenshots here.

I fail to see how them re-releasing content that launched with the game and hasn't been redone is news. I've been very disappointed with the DDO do-over.

That is true but has STK changed since launch?  I don't think so, let alone since it changed to the f2p model.

This is news about new screenshots on mmorpg.com... not new quests in DDO. That's what is written above.

Shan To Kor (STK) is very old content indeed, this article is incorrect when it describes it as a 'new' adventure and should be amended accordingly. However STK is also imo one of the best quests in the game, certainly the best low level one.

ts not just the large number of different mobs, the many optionals, some of the nastiest traps and a boss fight that requires real teamwork to succeed.

Its the enviroment itself which has a huge tactical effect on how you engage the enemy. DDO is one of the only mmo's out there where you can use the enviroment to your advantage, dodging behind pillars to avoid enemy spells and arrows, jumping on and off ledges to engage/retreat, the design of STK showcases ddo's incredible combat system.

As you descend deeper and deeper into the hobgoblin underground city the fighting gets more and more intense and you feel like you're in a real d&d dungeon you may never return from.

Sorry I love STK :D

This news is about screens of STK adventure pack.

STK is not new but the option to buy that pack is new since the game went F2P.

It's an advertising for this adventure pack.

DDO was one of my favorite titles, I was quite excited to see it go F2P. Once I cracked it open I was hugely disappointed to see the mass repackaging of old content as purchasable options. To me it seems like Turbine's final kick in the groin to a very promising title.

It says "a new Shan-to-Kor adventure pack." That is deliberately misleading at best and its what happens when journalists uncritically quote press releases from companies. A more honest desription would have been "The much loved Shan-to-Kor quest series is now available to purchase as an adventure pack"

Well they want to make money out of it so of course theyre going to encorurage you to pay! For a new player there are many, many quests you can play for free, including high quality ones Like Gwylans Stand and Tear of Dhakann. Its only when you hit level 10 or so you'll run into problems of lack of quest choices.

But actually its very easy to go F2P and for a pretty small outlay you can get pretty much everything you need. As a long time subscriber I went F2P, spent approximately 40 bucks and have now opened all of the content I need. Beats the hell out of 15 bucks a month. It also means I can take a break for a month or two and it costs me nothing to do so.

Exactly. Especially if you take advantage of the 5000 Turbine Points for $50 deal right now, you can buy pretty much every adventure pack that is worth getting if you wait for them to be 25%-50% off on a sale.
