One thing most MMORPG's lack is a decent crafting system, im hoping at some point crafted items in these games will become somewhat desirable, in every MMORPG ive ever played crafting has always been about grinding through the low levels of it to get to some half way decent gear. unfortunatly the gear you craft is usually replaced on your next outing by some non rare drop that is better than most things you could craft at your level. Crafting should be harder to level and should in turn produce better items than you could get in a drop at the same level. Also crafting exceptional items should require that you travel distant lands to find the ingredients you need as well as some special drops from higher level mobs in order to prevent everyone and the mother from having a sword of im gonna kick your butt...... i feel its just to bad that most MMORPG's dont really pay to much attention to this other than making some trivial items that are usually replaced by a drop rather quickly after wasting the time and resources to make them. Changing crafting in MMORPGS would make the crafting skill more valuable, thus in turn making the items worth more money and boosting economy. I am hoping DDO will decide to make a crafting system and make one worth the D&D name.

what do you all think about crafting,

Mantetta

I don't think DDO is planning on crafting, actually. I think they're pretty much trying to stick to an MMO version of the PnP game. When was the last time a bunch of guys sat around the table and rolled their dice to see if their next knitting stitch was successful?

I love crafting in PnP DnD, I hope they plan to implement crafting later. Can only hope.

I have to wonder what sort of mess the DDO boards will be after the game launches. You know there are going to be die hard D&D players who will kick up a fuss when ever there is deviation from the official PnP rules. Then there will be those who want all the nice warm and fuzzy bits that other MMOs offer... like crafting and cool emotes. I have a feeling it'll be war! (which is always kind of amusing if your not caught in the middle of it ::::19:: )
