The only way to get magic items should be though finding them.  You should not be allowed to trade them, or sell them.  If you have something you can not use you should be able to sell it only to a magic guild and only for gold.  Magic items should not be able to be bought, or given away.

I hate crafting games.  I want to open a chest and get a nice sword.  I don't want to have to buy a sword from a crafter.

The funest part about D&D was taking on the next room and seeing what was the treasure, no game has that excitement.

The enemy is so dumb! They believe that WE are the enemy! - A famous orc commander.

I agree.  However I dont mind if you can twink or not your alternates(with specific rules or no rules at all).

That isn't DnD tho...

Eventually I see them allowing us to have our magic crafters in the game. I want my Wizard to get Craft Rings, then get the feat which allows him to use 4 magic rings instead of 2. Remember, crafting magic items costs the CRAFTER xp, a powerful item can cost alot, 1xp per 25gpvalue of the item, so for an item that costs 100,000gp to craft, that's 4000xp the wizard loses while crafting the item.

If you get a +2 scimitar and you can't use it, you should be able to trade it to the player who got the +2 dagger that your wizard can use...

now if they put suggested prices on the item, and you had to trade nearly the same value give or take 25% to be able to trade it, that would seem fine, and only allow a player to give away a limited amount of gold to a new character.

Just my 2 gold.

Well, I see your point, but I kind of disagree.  I kind of like the crafter games, I think if I want to, I should be able to repair my own armor, or weapons, I should be able to make my own arrows, but in that same vein, if I want to I should be able to go to the weaponsmith and buy a standard sword, bow, arrows, whatever, and go to the Wizard's guild, and buy the acid arrows, magic +1 mace, or the ring of invisibility.

When you sell that magic item you found in the chest at the end of the mission, what the heck are you going to do with the gold in your system?  Who cares if you have 10 billion GP, if you can't buy a simple +1 sword anywhere?

Just my opinion, I am allowed to disagree right?

It''s not that I''m afraid to die. It''s just I don''t want to be there when it happens.

But even in the PnP game you could craft stuff. You could create scrolls, potions and if you were really high up, you could create magic items. So why should DDO be any different??

It shouldn't be any different, but, at the launch, they don't want people to start making +5 keen flaming burst weapons, espefcially before people are actually looting them in mission...it would throw the balance WAY off...

Ya, if they stick to the rules, there is no way you could do that.  in order to make a +5 weapon you have to be 15th level.
