Greetings all,

Now maybe it's just me, but I have found it nigh impossible to find any gaming groups. Man, it has been years since I have been able to play.

Now is it just me, or does everyone have the problem of finding groups to game with? It's sad really.

I resubbed after a couple of months, and tried to play on my level 14 and level 10 char and a new one at level 2 and it took a few minutes to find a group. We run lot's of different dungeons and when someone left, almost immediately got replaced.

I'm talking about the pen & paper version, hence the choice of forum. :P

I haven't personally looked for an groups to play with recently, but I have noticed that over the years I seem to see less and less people hanging around the old haunts looking to play, when before I could walk into any comicbook or collectible shop that sold rpg books and find other players looking to meet new players or get into a game.

Times are changing and I fear we lose more and more of the real old school roleplayers every day, kids these days don't have a general interest in reading, sure you'll still have the odd one that gets into it because of his/her likeness for anything related to fantasy, but its not the same when that player cant just meet a few people to play with at the local shop - because nobody is around to play.

All of my personal friends that used to rock pen and paper rpgs have quit, and most of them use the excuse that they don't have the time for it anymore like they did when we were all younger, which I can understand, but at the same time if you can invest 1-8 hours into an mmorpg in a single playsession then I cant see a reason why a 1-5 hour roleplaying session with some buddies would be any worse.

It just seems to have lost alot of its popularity, at least in my area of the world, and thats really a shame.

I can say from the places I have lived in the past 10 years, from Arizona, to California to Montana, that old-school pen and paper gamers are a rare breed, unless they have gone underground or something.

But they must be out there in large enough number to buy the rulebooks and such, otherwise Wizards Of The Coast wouldn't be publishing them still.

Think someone mentioned on this site awhile back about www.meetup.com just put in your zip and also put in Dungeons and Dragons. Hopefully you'll pull up some posts of people in your area. I live in a small town and there were plenty of posts in my area of people wanting to get together to play some D&D.

We used to have a group that played weekly for years, it was the best gaming experience ever.  But everyone got busy with their real life and the D&D just fell by the wayside.    Tried to resurrect it a few times, but the DMs commitment was just too much, it really takes a lot of time to get a keep a good game going.
