Welcome Home

Hello

I just recently Downloaded the free 10 day trial of DDO, so i am new to it and have no been able to fully explore it and see some of the higher lvl quests. At the same time i am also playing the free trial of Sage of Ryzom.  I tihnk it would be very interesting if Turbine allowed the players to create our own quests and story line similarly to what i beleive the rings are in Ryzom.  DnD PnP i beleive has lasted so long and has attraced so many players becouse we have the abilty to custimize our own epic stories and worlds to populate our characters.  I tihnk that if we where allowed to work with in certain paramters the player base of DDO could come up with very interesting and exciting enviroments in wich we could play.

I can understand that people who are very conenerd with back story  might be worried about players going off on a tangent but every one can choose what quests they plan to run threw.  To keep a relative balance to the game i would sudgest that whatever mechanism selects the loot found not be tampered with, thus stopping some one from creating the quest that gives you all of the loot.  Also that if you so choose to have the quest be part of one of the games factions that it have some limitations on it.

Inaddition so that the whole world is not populated with NPC all over the place and lots of doors leading to lots of instances, there could be either one pub or a few diffrent ones that would allow one or a few npc to grant access to multiple instance. For example You enter the pub and there are 10 Npc, the creater of the Quest would be able to pick witch NPC would be linked to your quest.  once you start the conversation a window would open up and you can pick what quest you are looking for.  You are then brought into the start of the instace where the player created NPC would be there and would open the quest.

All in all i would love to see some one create a seriess of epic quests that span the course of multiple lvls where you would have to complete them in order and there would be an evolving story line.  Possibly one that explains some of the orgins of the races or classes.  If what i have seen in PnP and in people bio is any indicator at what some of the players imaginative abilties are i feel that the game would be inriched with such a system.

Over time Players would have the abbilty to rate and lvl the quest.  At first maybe there could be a system based on what mobs you use to give players an idea of what lvl you should be and the exp system could also be based on this.  I f there is a general feeling that the quest is too easy then over time the exp and looted can be altered to keep game balance.

One final thought, it would be amazing if off line guilds would have the abilty to get together in order to construct these adventures, be allowed to have a limited beta (closed) testing cycle and then be released. I am sure that guilds would be created just based on players desire to work as a team to create and change the world in wich we all play. I hope this makes some sence since it is getting late and i am not too sure if what i invisioned is what you read.  If you have any ideas or tweeks to better fit this to the game please chime in , like i said when i opened i have only played for a few days and would love to hear from vet. players

I'd thought the exact same thing. It'd be great if maybe there was a special instance portal in the city where we could choose player-written content to play through. Turbine could release a custom tool for players to design their own adventures either in existing dungeons/wilderness areas, complete with scripting actions and dialogue or with a full 3D editor to design their own dungeons using existing assets. When the player selects one, it downloads and is available for play. DDO itself can handle all the loot, etc. but I do think that of all the games on the market, DDO is the one screaming for the inclusion of optional player-created content.
