www.ddo.com/news/729-new-server-opening-wednesday

Due to the overwhelming success of Dungeons & Dragons Online®: Eberron Unlimited™ and the massive growth in our player population, we’re proud to announce that a new high-capacity server world is opening on November 4, 2009! The new server is named Orien, after the famous Dragonmarked noble house in Eberron. House Orien is an integral part of Xen'drik's trade and transportation systems due to their renowned magical travel and teleportation abilities. The launch of the Orien server comes on the heels of the hugely successful launch of DDO Unlimited and just after our first major game update, underscoring our ongoing commitment to the franchise and the amazing popularity of DDO Unlimted. We’ll see you in-game!

NOTE: Orien will be open to new characters only. Character transfers will not be available for the new world at this time.

I was just about to post that! :)

Great news indeed for Turbine and all DDO players that Unlimited is being such a huge succes!

I just wonder: who will roll on this new server? It will probably have a low population, atleast at first.

If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

Awesome!  Hope it's actually profiting, and not just having to accomodate a bunch of freebie players...

Dungeon Runners couldn't keep it going, but DDO is a higher quality game.  It would be pretty sweet to see a f2p game become a success.

That's great. A lot of people have been complaining about server lag and login queues lately, glad to see they are trying to address it. Now to come up with a sorcerer build. Or a monk, I haven't tried either yet.

I thought about it but considering I started over on Cannith when it went F2P I do not see myself restarting again. I already have nothing  lol.

Server up yet? I just thought of trying the game today and a new server sounds perfect.

Looks like the business model works. gratz

Lets see if WAR and some others take it onboard. WAR has gone part way other offering T1 for free.

Yeah I'm waiting for warhammer to go free in the tier 1 zone, I pre ordered the collectors edition for that game, but did not like the beta to much so I cancelled. But it must have seen a lot of improvements, and I love the warhammer universe so I would really like to play that game too.

Seems like a bad idea for WAR to do that. I played the game a couple months after launch and everyone just constantly rerolled characters to fight in the tier 1 scenarios since they were the most fun. So to make that area free seems silly. I would make a free account and just play tier 1 scenarios and never pay a cent towards anything.

DDO makes much more sense, you buy new dungeon packs and such. Glad it's going well I really should go back and play it again.

So they are rolling a new server and it just so happens many people are experiencing lag and login issues but yet they are calling it successful. Well I guess when you are in desperate need fo money for your new console mmo  I guess anyone will call anything sucessful despite the glaring issues with the game.

People are having those issues because of population, hence the new server. Nice troll, but you need more research.

Yes it works, Anarchy Online used it years ago and that game is still alive. It will not work for every game but so far DDO looks to be one game it fits well.
