Damion Schubert, aka Ubiq, has posted a Designer's Diary on the Shadowbane website. The subject is the siege game and the development team's goals for improving it. Ubiq discusses (among others) the following goals:

Make it easier to rebuild after a lost war
Make trebuchets and other siege weapons more important
Reduce tree camping
Make walls more effective
