Shadowbane News - Comments from UBISoft

UBISoft still has no word on the future of Shadowbane.

"Shadowbane is currently free to play and will stay that way until at least May 15, 2006," said the Senior Manager of UBISoft Corporate Communications Jamie Broasi. "Ubisoft will be sending customers more information as soon as it is available."

Borasi also revealed that UBISoft is currently looking into relocating Wolfpack's employees to a central office.

"The decision to close Wolfpack is part of an overall strategy to concentrate Ubisoft’s development in its larger studios where more resources are available," added Borasi.

While this still does not resolve the question of whether Shadowbane will continue, the possibility of Wolfpack employees moving to another UBISoft office is a good sign.

I think it would be in UBIsoft's best interest to keep the SB Devs. Nothing says, "We just take what we want from you, then kick you to the curb." more than firing a core group of people that helped you're company and made thousands of people happy for years.

I know this is the way things work nowadays, so it's really nice to see a company even considering to try and find homes for their dedicated employees in-house.

My hats off to you UBI.

Lets hope this means there will be a SB 2. Shadowbane as a game was great. They just never had the resources they needed to revamp the graphics engine and develop systems needed to really get new players into the game.

If anybody who may actually work on any future iterations of SB read this, play WoW for 2 days. Learn something from the mouse functionality, but ONLY that. The rest of WoW is not something you want to emulate AT ALL.
