Seed has announced that it will be holding an Open Neta week that begins on April 25th, and will be available to anyone who applies for it:

Aarhus, Denmark - April 18, 2006 - Runestone Game Development, developers of the upcoming genre-shattering massively multiplayer game Seed, announced today that starting on Tuesday, April 25th, its beta testing program will be open for an entire week to all who apply. "We are looking forward to seeing crowds of players experiencing our game world as well as stressing and testing our systems to the limit," said Lars Kroll Kristensen, CEO of Runestone Game Development. “This will mark the home stretch of the development process as we prepare for next month’s launch.” Everyone is invited to enter the Open Beta Week. Players need only apply at www.seedthegame.com no later than Monday, April 24th. This open testing phase will end just prior to the Seed launch on May 2nd, 2006. The client will then be available for free download, along with its 14-day free trial, at www.seedthegame.com. |

glad its going into open beta, but I have to say my two cents....
i, for one, and not satisfied with seed. Seed is a great idea, great potential. An MMORPG with no combat, just focusing heavily on other aspects... you would think those other aspects would be amazing. While the voting system is an interesting idea in seed... everything else is sorely lacking. Sure, its fun to fix things at first. Gain a few friends, fix together... but you never get to do anything of much more value than fixing and making things.
Dont get me wrong, it looks amazing, plays mediocre (controls are really buggy), but it just doesnt feel whole. Great start of a game, but it still doesnt feel like a game.
Thats all I really have to say about the game. I just hope that they either add on a lot later, because it needs more to feel like a real game.
