Does this game have Player Owned Space Station yet?

Also, when I played last time, ships didn't have shields, any update on that?

no and no, shields on player ships would ruin the ballence of the game so don't expect it.

Yea, but not all of us are there for PvP, some of us are there to be traders, or merchants.

It would ruin trading, PvP, just about everything. right now ballence comes in that we've all gotten used to keeping an eye on our hulls, you add player shields and that both makes it easier for the pirates who now have shields, and distracts you further in a heated fight. The same would go for getting jumped by bots in a ion storm, there would be far less risk there and as such it would just cease to be as fun or challenging.

this makes zero sense. So you looked at your hulls, how much harder is it to keep an eye on shields as well? hell swg and eve both have them in the same ui area, so looking at one you see 2.

How, by having shields,  decreases risk? The risk is the same, its just adding a 2nd set of hitpoints, no different than if you added more armor to your hull.

 

Ever play Xwing v Tie Fighter? Those felt much more heated and intense, and they both had shielding.

XvT is a bad example, most ppl turned their shields off for more speed. Either way we know the Devs well enough to know if shields were added they'd also tweak the hulls so it'd be a moot point.

Combat in VO is meant to be fast and furious. If shields have a fast recharge rate, PvP would loose it's intensity given how easy it is to disengage or dodge enemy fire; combat could conceivably take forever as players just fly around each other waiting for their shields to recharge before reengaging. If shields have a slow recharge rate then it's just extra armor and therefore superfluous. Shields are a genre given but I honestly don't miss them in VO.

It's easy, capital class ships have shields, fighters don't.

Player owned stations are coming once some things like the faction system, economy, and dynamic warfare get treated.
