Citizen Zero was a planned action/sci-fi MMO with shooter elements. Created by Australian studio Micro Forté, Citizen Zero puts players into the role of a former prisoner on an isolated planet - Neo-Eden, a former penal colony and now a free society. Players start off as new adventurers, minds and histories erased as payment for their crimes. Choose a new identity among one of three races, consider a class path for yourself and you are off to a new life.
Gameplay in Citizen Zero ranged from vehicle transport to combat and hunting. Combat played out in real time in a third-person perspective. For a game that is much a persistent online shooter as RPG, there was the unique plan of having the game rely much upon cooperation and other PvE interactions. While the game did have limited PvP, Citizen Zero was more PvE focused, and instanced situations dropped you in with teammates or NPCs only.
In development hell for years and originally scheduled for a release in 2005, Citizen Zero was cancelled in March 2007.
