Only been playing around 3 weeks, but its sadly time to say bye to TR. Why?

I simply got bored.

When I first started playing, I really enjoyed the combat..and my first couple of Control Point base defense events were simply superb. Tension, fast combat...pressure...great stuff.

I was unfortunate enough to get a powerful machine gun, and its ruined the game for me. All I have to do is run and hold the left mouse button. No skill toggling, no looking for cover, no tactical approach. Just leap in and press the left mouse button over and over.

Im actually quite sad, I wanted to like this game..and had some great moments with it. But it doesnt add up to $15 a month.

Bye TR, I hardly knew you :(

this is the problem with this game there is zero replayabilty and the questing is a grind the whole system is really good till you hit around lvl 17 then you start becomming board with it then after lvl 30 it becomes a drag then when you hit lvl 50 theres nothing to do at all plus theres major imbalances in the game with professions that are greatly over powered (spys) plus the community isnt the greatest general chat looks like a kindergarten lunch room in reform school this game had so much potential but i guess they hired cheap devs cause they dont seem to know how to make a good game

I'm assuming you made 50.

If not your being silly, you have no concept of what the game has to offer since you haven't seen it all.

If i spend the money on a normal machine gun at level 5 the things i'm facing drop like flies.

They do at 15 if you have a really nice gun, which you said you did.  They eat your face at 30+

You haven't played enough.  But that's your choice.

Later tater.

No Im not being silly. I've heard the arguement of "it gets better and more challening later"

Im a slow leveller, and dont want to pay another month(s) sub fees to get to the bits I want to play now. The bits being tactical combat that is challening.

The fact is that at the moment, everytime I log in for the short to midterm my entire gameplay experience involves holding down the left mouse button to attack.

It shouldnt take getting to level 30+ to escape that.

The carrots come way too late in this game, its bad game design.

That said, I really did have some fun moments..its not a horrible game, its just needed more. Well for me anyway.

You dont have to wait until lvl 30+ to get a challenge as the weapons become fairly ineffectual after 5 levels which is why you upgrade weapons / armor every 5 levels.

So assuming you are lvl 16 - by the time you hit 21 your overpowered machinegun wont be making the grade.

Also in the patch Tuesday - shield drones once again reflect damage. So facing a group under a shield drone will be a challenge. Unless you run right in the middle and cut loose.

If you want more challenge immediately - hang up the machine gun and use pistol, rifle, shotgun or even lightning.

If you are only in the low levels - try playing a specialist - always more challenging than a soldier as you dont get the big area of effect weapons.

If you arent prepared to change play style temporarily, or change class then yes you are out of challenges until you out level your weapon.

In may not be fun at 50 - but are you really saying you had no fun at all between 15 and 50?

I am lvl 37 with an exo having a great time in pools.

As for the developers not listening - sheesh what an over generalization.
- Military Surplus
- Portable waypoints
- PAU's in development
- Hybrids
- Death Penalties
- Hideable helmets
- shield extender for engineers
- attributes having more effect
- cloning doing a full respec of skills / attributes

All came from requests made in beta.

They didnt listen to things like
- release date pushing back
- dual wielding pistols
- people whining to put it back to the uber god mode pre july.

I am natural born chaos, and I am the last of a dying breed

Ya know i hate to say it, but i too am taking my leave of TR. I've been there, like many, since beta, and have just reached a point that this game is not the MMO experience that i am willing to pay $15 a month for. I know it has been out only a short time, and i hope that it doesnt die. I hope that i come back and go "Whoa the fixed it and this games a rocking."  Till then i must go off in search of something with more depth, and more polish. Or hopre that i can get into some of the next gen MMO's betas.

I am the last of a dying breed

Sorry to see you leave due to YOUR playstyle.

Also sorry to see that we still have people that grab that UBER weapon and all they seem willing ot do is use that, afcourse any game might become broring if gamers really would play that way. You should know or atleast understand that TR is a game where you can find your own challenge, no one is telling you to only use that great gun, you have more you are able to use to be succesfull. You see in each and every MMO there is a crowed who only wants to use hte UBER stuff and of all games it's mostly those who stop playing due to bordom, but unfortuinaly all we keep seeing is those people blaming the game but not once do we see people saying that they know it's beccause of their playstyle.

Look i'm not saying you NEED to like TR as each and every person is different, but when i see someone complain which is the  result of that persons playstyle i often react, trying to explain my point of view.

Each and every MMO i played was for about 50% of it's lvl's EASY not one was what i would call difficult, but in each of those MMO's i always found my own challenge, and thats not following the sheep metiod but playing HOW I WANT TO PLAY IT and how i feel the game can be challenging, meaning you will not see me use onew type of gun or even one type of skills, i always use all the skills i have, some are weak some are strong, but atleast when using them all the game will be challenging to me, this goes for all MMO's i played, i never needed that UBER stuff as i saw each person using such things always got bored of not having a challenge by the game....again this goes for each and every MMO i have played/tried/tested and always saw those speaking about only using one type of UBER weapon to get bored. My own experiance and who i have met, this doesn't REALLY mean each and every person, but just those i met or saw writting on forums.

Kinda the reason why i sometimes ask or say that certain people should really try and reconsider their playstyle.

I am going to stop subscribing as well, as soon as mine is up. I have been in since beta as well (Orion) and have multiple characters (Guard, Gren, Engineer - levels 35-32 respectively) and have become bored.

Even with yesterday's AI update to make the fights more interesting the game has become a real snoozer. And the idea of grinding to 50 - well I'd rather not have to "experience" that.

And its no secret the lack of content at the level cap, hell the lack of content is rampant at 35. Very grind oriented - easy to run out of quests and even when you dont the repition is shameless at level 33+. The quests, the NPC models, the areas, the whole game is recycled material.

And I disagree the adds to the game since its come out have really added a lot. Military Surplus just inst that cool with the amount of non-bound items. And the removal of all really good items from quests was a bummer. And the lack of PAUs at this stage is unforgivable IMO.. there are a lot of unkepy promises and PAUs should be in the game already...heck they are just now considering an in game mail system, for crying out loud.

game needs A LOT more original content, needs to be A LOT more expansive, and I for one hate the clan only PVP.......come on, get a real PVP system.

It did have tons of potential and agree the first 25 levels were a riot....I got my money's worth, but me and the game have reached a point of reciprocity and it will be ending here.

Ah I'd say in the 80's I was a huge Richard Garriott fanboi.  I mean my Commodore 64.. most any Origin System Inc game.. was heaven.  Loved the Ultimas.

I like TR.  However, I'll admit I canceled my account as well.  Pretty much I'd love to come back but I won't more to the game.  I'm not gonna trash the game or call it boring.  It has an incredible foundation.. but it needs work.. mostly things added and class abilities fixed/balanced.

I really loved my Injector Gun.. to me that was just the coolest thing.  Well I should say guns since I carried four different kinds.  Or something like that lol.  I was into the Exo myself.

After I got to what we'd call "end game" I level'd up an alt with a machine gun.  I personally found that to be funny as hell.

Honestly if you weren't having to switch to a shot gun or a rifle in some places.. I dunno what to say.  Or the nerfed the heck out of squids because when I was playing shooting them with a chain gun woulda been suicide.

Dunno but anyway it was fun when I played.  Jump down a hill, tumble roll and come up with chain gun blasting.

I guess in the end I was bored.. but it was mostly because I like to craft.  Right now TR really doesn't have a crafting system... or one that interests me at least.

Like I said if the game gets additions that appeal to me I'd go back np.  Told them that as much as I could on the exit poll as well.

"We already have two operating MMOs. We launched a game called Ultima Online in 1997. It's still got hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Then there's Dark Age of Camelot, we also have a situation where we have well over 100,000 subscribers."

-Frank Gibeau of Electronic Arts.

Does it seem odd that UO has more subscribers than the best RvR game on the market?

Just jumping to this point... i assume you mean FFA PvP then? Or at least the option to make you an "open target" for those who are toggled the same as you?
