Yeah try the 3 day trial then quit.

Don't waste your money on the game without trying it for free first.

You want my opinion on why the game sucks without just saying it sucks?  Alrighty.

1. No official forums or Dev blog, there is literaly close to zero communication between Devs and players.

2. No end game content, when you hit 50 you can kill striders over and over or do clans wars which is controlled by the clan leaders(with rules).  Thats all the EG there is, no PvP servers, nothing.

3. The player base is weak, expect to find yourself soloing most of the game, this includes the instances.

4. The crafting system is weak and everyone who plays it knows it.

5. Other then doing missions(quests), clan wars, or defending/attacking control points, there is nothing else to do.

6. They just recently made mobs take longer(MUCH longer to kill), this increases how long it takes to level, most likely they did this to buy themselves time to put in EG content.  Unfortunitly for them I bought the game a week before thos, loved the game because it was so fast and now it's a joke.  Have fun crouching and holding down your mouse button as you use your leach gun on 1 mob for 10-20 seconds until it dies and moving onto the next.

7. Pace of adding new content, slow.  Go look at the 1.5 patch notes, they are a joke, I have low doubts TR is gonna have enough new content added to have it compete in the future.

I really could go on, but why bother.

Honestly, I got 20 days left of my account and I doubt I'll be resubbing.

39 Demo, 30 Engi, 15 exo, 18 commando.

Try it yourself, you really won't be impressed by it after about a month of playing.  It's pretty sweet at first but then it becomes even more repetitve then other MMOs I have played.

And I want to say how pissed I'am at 1.4 patch again, half the people I knew quit when they did that.

Too bad, seems Garriot didn't learn that if you don't communicate with the players and give them what THEY want, you will fail.

Hope you enjoyed my explanation for why the game sux instead of just saying it sux.

I agree - everyone should try a game before buying.

From a different perspective - I think the game is a lot of fun.

I have been playing retail since pre-release. So almost 4 months now, and I was in beta before then.

Character wise - I have an exobiologist at 34, an engineer at 32 and a soldier at 12.

I am definitely a casual player - I would get in a couple of two hour sessions during the week and a 3 to 4 hour session on a Friday or Saturday evening.

No end game content, when you hit 50 you can kill striders over and over or do clans wars which is controlled by the clan leaders(with rules). Thats all the EG there is, no PvP servers, nothing

At my current rate of process thats a couple of months away for me.

Other then doing missions(quests), clan wars, or defending/attacking control points, there is nothing else to do.

I am having a lot of fun doing just that - with a couple of friends.

3. The player base is weak, expect to find yourself soloing most of the game, this includes the instances.

Or that did it to address your point 3. What do you want - easy to solo, or encouraged to group?

Honestly - my 3 months has just expired and I have resubbed for another 3 months.

Too bad - some people dont realize that trying to please everyone is even more certain to fail - as you end up pleasing no-one.

To me T.R is a fast (even after 1.4) action game. There is a lot of things in game to ensure you can get to the action as quickly as possible.

But I totally agree with the OP - try the game before you buy.

Ummm, actually they put out something every week called "Feedback Friday" in which they preview new content and patches and upcoming game stuff.  On top of that they have the "Weekend Wrapup" every Monday which is the exact same thing.  So you actually get two updates per week.  Go to the official site, click on "Community" and then click on "Community News" and you'll find them.

On top of that devs post on very nearly every single fan forum out there and frequently at that.  And a ton of devs post, not just one or two.  In fact, I regularly talk to the PR person (Critters) on AIM and I also have her phone number (don't ask).

2. No end game content, when you hit 50 you can kill striders over and over or do clans wars which is controlled by the clan leaders(with rules).  Thats all the EG there is, no PvP servers, nothing.

This is completely true.  The game has no repeatable end game content at all which sucks.

3. The player base is weak, expect to find yourself soloing most of the game, this includes the instances.

Or just join a clan.  My clan has 15-25 people online every single night and I'm on Cassie, probably the least populated server.  My clan doesn't even actively recruit btw, people just submit apps.

4. The crafting system is weak and everyone who plays it knows it.

Also true.  Right now all you can do is mod items and if pump mods to certain levels there is a chance of permanently losing your item.  I lost prototype level 50 items and was absolutely pissed... Anyways, the devs are aware that crafting is weaksauce and have acknowledged it.

5. Other then doing missions(quests), clan wars, or defending/attacking control points, there is nothing else to do.

There are events all of the time.  My guild hosts a public server event every 2-4 weeks but you're right, the only thing the game has is combat at the moment.  Though the combat is damn good and beats the pants off regular MMO fare the game still needs more.

This is false.  Mobs are not harder to kill, you just have no idea what you're doing.  At level 50 there was pretty much zero change in gameplay from 1.3 to 1.4 besides the attribute adjustments.

7. Pace of adding new content, slow.  Go look at the 1.5 patch notes, they are a joke, I have low doubts TR is gonna have enough new content added to have it compete in the future.

Got a link for the 1.5 patch notes?  I'd be amazed to see them considering 1.5 hasn't been released yet.  Unless you meant 1.4 in which case they added like 30-40 new quests throughout the zones and then the new instance Descent.  Still, they are releasing one or two instances per patch which isn't bad.  The only problem is that nothing they release is replayable.

I'm quite aware of the Feedback, which never address any of the concerns or tropics discussed on the TR forum I frequent(trplanet).  I read the recent Friday feedback, none of it seems very exciting or interesting, especially for a game that is competing to stay afloat in the coming months.

And don't worry, no one will ask why you have that person's phone number.

2.This is completely true.  The game has no repeatable end game content at all which sucks.

3. Yeah.

3.Or just join a clan.  My clan has 15-25 people online every single night and I'm on Cassie, probably the least populated server.  My clan doesn't even actively recruit btw, people just submit apps.

Of course I'am in a clan, but everyone is all diffrent levels, the ones that are my level are never on when I'am on and I literally can be logged for 3 hours soloing spamming for "LFG anything lvl XX!" and will get nothing(Orion server).

4.Also true.  Right now all you can do is mod items and if pump mods to certain levels there is a chance of permanently losing your item.  I lost prototype level 50 items and was absolutely pissed... Anyways, the devs are aware that crafting is weaksauce and have acknowledged it.

They've acknowledged a lot of things but we are still waiting for them to fix it all.

5.There are events all of the time.  My guild hosts a public server event every 2-4 weeks but you're right, the only thing the game has is combat at the moment.  Though the combat is damn good and beats the pants off regular MMO fare the game still needs more.

Combat is not as amazing as you make it sound, with limited skills(lots of broken ones), about 0 to -0 skill when it comes to using an engineer or just shooting your sniper gun over and over etc.

6.This is false.  Mobs are not harder to kill, you just have no idea what you're doing.  At level 50 there was pretty much zero change in gameplay from 1.3 to 1.4 besides the attribute adjustments.

Sorry, I didn't mean HARDER, I meant LONGER, mobs take LONGER to kill, they aren't HARDER.  In my experience with MMOs the second I spot quickfixes like this, it's usually a bad sign the game is heading in the wrong direction.

7.Got a link for the 1.5 patch notes?  I'd be amazed to see them considering 1.5 hasn't been released yet.  Unless you meant 1.4 in which case they added like 30-40 new quests throughout the zones and then the new instance Descent.  Still, they are releasing one or two instances per patch which isn't bad.  The only problem is that nothing they release is replayable.

I don't remember where I read the 1.5 notes, it was off a link from somewhere, but it wasn't the full patch notes, just a couple notes which were all very... not useful and what people are looking for.

And to finish, maybe you'd like to answer why there is no official TR forums, the fact remains this is something I've never heard a DEV respond to.

Yep, thanks Ikavadas for an unbiased and balanced response.

Responding to Drolkin, I agree with Ikavadas about the devs responsiveness... Critters and crew have been top-notch about posting and responding regularly on the major forums.  In fact I've never seen any mmo-devs as community-responsive as in TR.  Not sure why they would need an "official" forum... be nice to have one I guess, but not really necessary... but the devs are definitely not afraid of openness on the player-forums, which I think is a very good thing.

I'd just add that the GM's are fast and responsive as well, and actively involved in the game and the  experience... just what I've observed... and most active players you'd ask would know who GM_rofl is.

I'm impressed with the devs, GM's and crew.  And no, I'm just a very active player.

Three days is not enough to try out a game, I can't believe DG/NCSoft went with 3 days instead of 14 days. Anyhow, the majority of people that joins the game and plays for a few weeks always says they like the game, the general chat is the best part of the game since nearly any kind of topic occurs most of the day though morning chat is much better than afternoon chat (kids home from school hours). The community is MUCH better than some of the posters here (like interitus) has said.

GM response is incredibly fast and they're very helpful and even RG and devs joins the servers and plays with us or chats with us. The future plans from devs is more missions, instances, pvp, crafting revamp, probably new zones. The 1.4 patch added 16 new missions and hybrids which adds a little more uniqueness.

The only complaint I have seen were mostly from level 50s with little to do which I understand and devs has plans for that.

Too bad you missed the chat we had with a couple devs over a week ago, he logged on and said hi then asked if there were any suggestions for him to write down for the next dev meeting, he even said in chat "I'm writing these down", devs ARE listening to what we want.
