And by now I mean this:

I played the open beta, the 3 days of pre release, and I own 2 collector's editions (My friend gave me his because he hated this game).

I enjoyed it when it was release but didn't enjoy the lack of content, such as no AH, and content just seemed dull and everything broken. The game also seemed way to easy to play.

How much of this has been fixed? What has been added?

Thanks for any answers.

None.  Nothing.

In all honesty here's exactly what's been added since release:

They now have an AH type thing.  I say 'type thing' because you can't have actual auctions on it, it's just B/Os and nothing else.  They've added hybrids (like human/thrax, human/forean, and human/brann) but the quests to get them are lame, uninspired, and the differences between hybrids and regular humans is minute at best.

They've added two new high level instances (one in Thunderhead in December and in one in Descent in January).  No new level 50 content since then.

The game still lacks a single piece of high end content.  You still "win the game" once you hit 50.

They're basically focusing the entire game on PvP now but have absolutely nothing to show for it as of yet.  Many, many projects which were talked about at launch (pet system like Guild Wars' heroes, Personal Armored Units) have been axed or put on hold indefinitely.

They've added no PvE content since January.  They've redone the CP token system three times.  Basically all profession work has focused on spies and snipers sans the oddball, and completely uncalled for, nerf here and there.

Basically the dev team aimlessly wanders around picking things seamingly at random to either redo, nerf, or fix.  There is absolutely no coherence or logic in their approach to this game.

Bottom Line: I'd wait another six months.

-Red VS Blue  PvP is in the work released due on patch 9 or 10, I think it's on test server as we speak.

-2 instances have been added, one more is in the tube for patch 1.9

-Engineer skills have been changed/revamp/nerf/balanced, so much that you can hear the cry babies in forums.

-Spy have seen many changes

-Sniper many changes and tweaks, basically they're trying to make the skills work as intended, the class wasn't supposed to one-shot kill almost everything in game.

-Token system for CP is gone, now you get "Prestige" points, but you also get those points for finding rare items and killing bosses and mini-bosses.

-Added respec skills/attributes

-Bio and Mech Armor for both male and female avatars have been optimized.

-Added "The CELLAR Arena"

-Added couple "Flashpoint" missions since launch

-Added a couple waypoints around maps

-Hybrid and missions to unlock them

-New abilities have been added to NPC, I can think of 4 of em other people might find more.

All in all I see more new content in the first 6 months than most mmo I played in the past, but... This game was light in content to start with.If they can keep the pace 2-3 new instances every 6-8 months, move lvl cap to 60 by next x-mas this game might have a chance :)

I'd just like to make it very clear that the only decent content that t he entire team has put out since release is for Public Test Server only.  There are no plans for this map to go live.  Ever.  These are the words of Kagasumi.

That's why this dev team is a joke.

They have also added
- lots of new PvE quests
- power kits, adrenaline kits
- personal teleporters - one way, two way and squad
- Targets of Opportunity missions - get titles for killing the stuff you would have killed anyway, finding logos, killing bosses, completing instances
- More voice overs on quests
- Removed timers from most quests
- Made the rescue type quests better
- Fixed the capturable bases
- Improved the assaults on bases
- Fixed mires

- fixed lots of bugs
- fixed up immunities on NPC enemies
- made bane tougher, they now use exploding things on corpses, Kaal leap, shield drones shield.

- Linkers are broken - in beta they were killers, now I have no idea what they are supposed to do.

Class wise I have a exobiologist at lvl 48 - love the clone and the injector gun, a spy at lvl 30 and an engineer at lvl 33.

This game is amazing considering the hell it's gone through.  First of all.. HALF the budget for this game was completely blown when the company purchased rights to a graphics engine, was designed as a Fantasy/Sci-Fi game.  Look, they made one game with 1/2 the budget and than they scrapped the whole thing and started over again.  That right there is what hurt this game more than anything else.  The game went into development back in 2002, was thrown out in late 2005 and re-done.   So, the game was launched premature with so much conent missing.. why? they had no money left!!  Also, they wanted to get this game out ahead of the other big contenders (AOC and Warhammer)   But budget controls all, period and they were simply out of money.

The original Tabula Rasa (Pre-Richard Garriot)

Once released, the poop really hit the fan.  They didn't get even 1/2 of the subscribers they needed and the budget had doubled!! DOUBLED since it's original conception.  The VP's and investors were pissed! They were at a major loss.  So, when this happened... the Korean company who owns this game basically pulled the plug on the team of developers down in Texas.  They laid-off or transferred a ton of their talent.  The game now works on a skeleton crew of developers and QA people.  They do what they can and hope that the game is salvagable. It is being updated but not being updated like a game with big money.. not being updated like they had originally planned before the company pulled the plug.  The game is hurting and they just want their ROI or to break even.    They offer free trials and I hear they will be offering even longer free trials.  You can buy the game for $29.99 at Best Buy. ($14.99 at EB Games).  At release I paid $50.  They also offer people incentives to come back if they beta tested or were playing at launch as much of thier orignal fanbase has jumped ship.  I had huge hopes for this game and I think it's an OK game.  The game isn't the problem.  I see so many mistakes made with this game.  I don't understand how so many millions of dollars can be blown on a game and then someone steps in and says "hey, no.. let's totoally re-do this game!".  I don't get it.. if the idea/visuals looked so horrible that they blew through millions of dollars... why didn't someone say "this sucks", at the drawing board when they had only spent $25,000 on an artist to do concept work?  I really wish it had worked out and I truly hope that somehow they can recover this game.

Best Buy

EB Games

Once the team was cut down, they put all the big/cool ideas for this game on hold.   Will 6 more months help this game? Not sure, I'd love to see it work.  The industry lacks a good ground-based Sci-Fi MMO.

Is this game better now?  I don't know... I don't think it's that much better.  It is much better than beta.. yes.. for sure.. and it's improved slightly from the couple months post-release.. yes..  Worth another dive? no.  This game is a great rest-stop for those waiting for warhammer.. come play this for 3 months and than pop into warhammer or Arion.

The VP's and investors were pissed! They were at a major loss. .....You write as if you have personal knowledge of this. Is that the case? UBS is one of their big shareholders, at least at some point. I'm wondering about the investors, myself. Keep in mind that NcSoft is out a lot more than just the development costs for the two versions of TR--they invested heavily in "intangible assets" like the Garriott name and the studio. NcSoft stock is very low right now. I would think that he company auditors would be putting pressure on the Board of Directors to write off the game, as it is valued on their balance sheet at mich more than what its worth. (that doesn't mean close the game down, just to revalue the asset lower.otherwise you're presenting net worth under false valuation, which can get a company into legal trouble). They wrote off Auto Assault six months from launch. Aion will be released shortly, maybe that'll help with the revenue.

I don't get it.. if the idea/visuals looked so horrible that they blew through millions of dollars... why didn't someone say "this sucks", at the drawing board when they had only spent $25,000 on an artist to do concept work?

That's a very good question. Looks like poor leadership and bad management.

You''ve been a bad girl Miss Liberty, now go to my room!

The End game to me is really when there is going to be other people who enjoy the game to play with and a good story line and the feeling of living in it, which is what I get when there is an active community that likes the game. And with new stuff every once in a while.

I hate to say this but SWG was a good game and yes it lost its luster after changes but I swear you could still grow your own cities but by then the cities were dead so no point.

TR has a good community and I love the lore so it's good to go with me. EVE is good too, you can finally play the story line/lore with Empyrean Age now.

That's what people like IMO in MMO's besides a continuing lore, and that is to be able to highly interact with each other. IMO that is.

P.S. Maybe it is good sometimes to wait for game to get to the 6 or 7 month mark live to THEN join into it.

All though the comunity is pretty cool now and I heard they were always pretty cool to. but still I'm glad I started just now.

I'm curious about the game as well.  Played beta and a few months into luanch and finally threw the towel in at lvl 47, couldnt take the lack of meaningful content.  From what I am reading the game still sucks.  Any reason at all to come back?

Current Games:
WOW - Alliance Priest
EVE Online - Miner
Past Games: EQ2, EQOA, AO, Tabula Rasa,AOC, LOTRO, WarHammer

MMOs require more reasoning and imagination than most stereotypically ''adult'' activities.

Not yet, Broomy.  You can always do the 3 day trial to give it a checkout.  But it will just be Deja Vu all over again.  I'd say check back in several months at the slugs-pace that these devs are adding new content and features.

It seems my reaoning to wait untill after the 6[7 month mark was correct again in this game because it seems that now they are finaly adding what they wanted to,

A good time to come back if you do not want to wait a little motre would be 2 months from now.

Also IMO TabulaCast 28 has been informitive in this respect you might want to watch it if you have not already, the link is in the news page on the TR website www.rgtr.com/news/latest_news/tom_potter_on_tabulacast.html

Six months isn't even long enough before getting into this game (in fact nothing of importance was added in the six months after launch, or even until now; eight months later).  I'd wait a solid year before giving this game a try so basically check back in October or November.
