The World of Warcraft community site has been updated with a look at the forthcoming demon invasions that herald the imminent arrival of the Legion expansion on August 30th. The timeline for the invasions to begin is the second or third week of August and no later than August 17th, according to the most recent blog post.
Demon invasions will begin to appear in any one of six locations throughout Azeroth and will be visible on the world map when they begin. Each invasion features four stages, each of which will reward Nethershards, a new event-specific currency, and the possibility of a loot chest. Each week, the invasions will intensify as will the number of Nethershards dropping.
Nethershards can be traded for any one of four transmog sets, one in each armor type. They can also be used for new items for neck, fingers, back and trinket slots. In addition, a Felbat Pup battle pet and other items will be for sale that require Nethershards.
Players can also earn achievements such as Stand Against the Legion for completing an invasion as well as Defender of Azeroth: Legion Invasions for completing one in each of the six zones.
