I think the new models along with Pokemon, Scenarios and a PvP centered expansion will bring a lot of people back.

 

The combination, but none on their own could do it.

It will take a lot more than updated graphics and the mop expansion to get people back.

The graphics or character models have nothing to do with me not playing it, as I'm sure is the case for many. The gameplay and design is old and continues to get easier and more tedious every year. I've stretched every drop of enjoyment out of it to the point that I don't even want to see the launcher for another minute. So 'everyone' is a far stretch of the imagination if anyone in the millions of subscribers and/or ex-subscribers is anything like me.

The OP could be right, partially. New models may bring back those who left because of the models in the same way F2P for ToR might bring back those who left because of the sub.

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

The graphics, the models, the artstyle , they are all more then fine...the problem is the game itself...wow is not wow anymore...its a dumbed down lobby online game with multiplayer gameplay.

A bit cruel, but I think I have to agree with you there. WOW certainly is not what it used to, and for that reason (mainly) I have left; it is no longer the game that I fell in love with (not that I'm falling in love with games - figure of speech).

Yeah new models will bring them back. I still know alot of people that refuse to put the luclin models on for EQ 1 when they upgraded their models. People dont play games for graphics, yeah they are nice, but gamers play games for gameplay. If thats lacking doesnt matter how pretty it is it will still fail. Look at all the shiney pretty games out there now. Any of those P2P games have 9+million subs?

people are going to come back because they're releasing a new expantion, its happened, what? 3 times already?  WoW wont ever get back up to wotlk numbers again though.

2 main reasons for this:

- Chuck norris advertisement: the WoW-ified chuck norris looks quite different from the basic human model (it has wrists for example)

- Monk class and the martial arts animations. They said to make the models do all the monk animations, they had to add a lot of bones to the model structures and as all the old races can be monk this seemed a great idea to also reveal the new models.

It has since been announced that the new models are in the workings, but will not be ready for Pandaria. The first models to be released will be Dwarf and Orc and might be ready by release, but it is uknown if they will release them little by little or all at once. So I would not keep my breath on this one.

Too little too late.  I wanted this feature in Cata, I'm not going back for it now.
