A 64-bit client is now available for use with the 4.3.2 PTR. You can download it at the link below, unzip it into your PTR directory, and then run the executable to test it.

  • The 64-bit client is being distributed separately from the PTR as it is not yet supported for use with World of Warcraft.
  • This can only be used with the 4.3.2 PTR, it is not to be used with the live version of the game.
  • A Mac version is not available yet, though we are working on one and plan for it to be available in the near future.
  • The game’s built in voice chat does not currently work in the 64-bit client.
and the window 2000 was on another snipet info .
so 64 bit next season max ?nice!

I don't get this as I'm not that computer savvy, but why does a game developed 9+ years ago need a 64 bit client?  Do people with 64 bit cpu/OS's have trouble running the game?

3.5 gb is the limit dont ask for more in 32 bit with 64 bit intel support 32 gb of ram so theoricly blizzard can use 30 or so ,it sound silly but often the ram limit is annoying for blizzard and player because blizzard has to plan ram refresh way more often then they would if they had access to say 7 gb of ram twice less often or so ,dont ask me what blizzard plan for wow is but they got a plan

you dont do a major move like this without one ,i bet all of us with fair computer will be happy to finally be able to be fully 64 bit

ok in all honesty i dont know cause this should rise ram usage to about 5 gb or so without any change ,but the ram is so cheap these days that i will up it to 32 gb if need be i didnt go 64 bit for nothing .lot of people hit the ram limit of 3.5 for those geared enough this wont be an issue anymore ,one less complain for blizzard to ear!

Being a video game forum, anyone here who has more than 8 is likely clueless...  Not only do games not utilize all that much RAM but it's more important for gaming to have faster higher quality ram (timings).  I'm pretty sure they don't make 8 gig sticks that can reach the best timing speeds.

For me, I recently built a new rig and opted for some quality 4 gig sticks (*16 gig total) as I also use this machine for hosting VM's and it's nice to have the free memory to spare.

It will have a minimal impact on WOW's performance, but what it will do is force these other lazy assclowns to crank out 64bit executeables as well.

There's no excuse for major releases to be 32bit only these days when we've had 64bit consumer chips on the market for nearly a decade.

Razeron is right, some one has to go first and in this respect it's blizzard.... just watch the others fall in line, though it should be noted that only 54% of those survyed on steam run a 64bit OS at the moment..http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

Windows 2000 has been deprecated, it is not supported anymore by WoW.

Also those limits are for Windows 7 64 bit.

Problem is a 32 bit application will run in a 64 bit processor and OS, but will not perform as well and cannot access all the available resources.
