We all breath and we all die.

WoW will most likely survive SWTOR simply because they are both current gen mmorpgs with a lot of content, people who don't like sci fi all that much really don't like SWTOR that's something you guys fail to see or atleast get, it does have flaws as well it's not perfect and it isn't flawless, reason being is because honestly the combat is not all that, it's like ok the story is nice, it's polished, but the gameplay, mainly the combat, is not it's strong points.

I can only think of one company that is making an MMORPG that's focused on both gameplay and story and I can say that after experiencing that game and SWTOR. And not even that game is perfect but hell it's focusing on both and after tryin out both were good in quality and quantity.

SWTOR will give WoW issues but it won't devour WoW I'm sorry, but it's just how it is.

May the common sense be with you

Try to argue this please.

Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Take care :D

Was there an assumption that WoW wouldn't survive SWTOR?

SWTOR will take subs from WoW, but not enough to kill the game. I think people on both sides of the fence would agree to that.

Most of WOW's subscribers are asians that pay $1 a month and SWTOR is not being marketed in asia so pretty sure SWTOR means nothing to WOW.

WTB a sandbox mmo with WoW's polish.

12/11/11 7:46:05 PM#25

Iv played both. WoW wont die to TOR, but it will take the biggest blow its ever taken from another mmo. The smart money is on anywhere from 1-2 million people not coming back to WoW if all goes well by this time next year.

WTB a sandbox mmo with WoW's polish.

So far Blizzard has tried to lock people into a year contract, slashed prices way, way down, and have bought up every piece of advertising they can (I even saw the Chuck Norris commercial ad on my xbox).

I haven't seen any TV spots for Star Wars yet. Maybe I'm just missing them.

As it stands, only nerds like us even know that there is a Star Wars MMO coming out while everyone that watches TV knows about Warcraft.   Not sure how this will pan out.

Its funny to see people making the Panda race sound like its for immature people yet all they do is act immature on these forums and in any games they play, hypocrites for the win.

for the record i don't wanna grow up i'm a Toys R Us kid :P

Ummm the combat is fine in SWTOR im sorry they got rid of your auto attack lmao. I do agree SWTOR won't kill WoW it will have tis own crowd of star wars fans and Bioware fans that havent played MMOs before that will be its success, but nothing is going to kill WoW except age and Blizzard.

Societies collapse will be blogged and twittered along until it's conclusion.

Blizzard isn't worried, they have made more money than god.

What Blizzard needs to decide now is, do they want an EQ1 ending or a Sienfeld ending.

That term has only been added to a game from the fans not devs the only game that really claimed itself to be a WoW killer was rift with tis... we arent in Azeroth anymore.

SWTOR let too many ppl down... They could've made such a great game but instead they publish some semi-good garbage... I  think it'll loose it's spotlight 2 weeks after it's released. Beta really dissapointed me.

WoW doesn't have to survive anything... Don't you just get it? WoW did something no other game did before and it's already time for the blizzard to take the game down and publish something new (because we all know they have Titan in their pocket) because this has started to be pure milking of players and it's really getting old...

Don't forget the "Join the Horde" slogan Rift had for a bit.

On topic, WoW will survive like Zadawn said.

Most people have agreed that the only game that will "kill" WoW is WoW. And that's exactly what happening. Subs will slowly drop off, but still be miles ahead of any other MMO (including TOR). If Titan ever formulates it will obviously steal some subs, but I'm sure Blizzard will try to minimize that. I can see them doing like what SOE did with the station pass. One sub, and you get access to WoW and Titan.

As a PvP'er, I've always had the feeling of WoW started to kill itself slowly after releasing WotLK

I'm a huge SWTOR fan, but the only thing that will kill WOW is blizzard when they release "titan".  Even then I think that WOW has been around so long and has such a following that it will always remain populated.

Appanrently market analysts have estimated 800,000 to 1.6 million people will leave WoW for ToR . And 50 percent of those playing WoW intend to try ToR . If indeed that is true and they stay WoW could lose anything upto 5 million subs in the coming year . On top of that Amazon had to issue an announcement over the shipping schedual for ToR which is pretty much unpresidented that alone suggest the number of people ordering it is a lot higher than anyone expected . Now it could be argued that its box sales alone and most people will leave once they have completed the first month and return to Warcraft but given the game is being so well recieved in general that really is clutching at straws and if anything player numbers will grow even higher earlier in the new year . The problem for Blizzard is it seams it could easily become the new cool for younger players too . School age children tend to want to fit in with their piers . So if they leave then your going to see an even larger exodus .

Some people will play both of course and some will switch between the two and of course ToR maybe will attract new players to the MMO genre but even so you can expect big loses .

WoW will survive but it probably has peaked . Still if you enjoy WoW why worry if its going to remain the number one game or whether its going to lose 5 million players . It shouldn't effect your enjoyment of the game and the game will survive for many years to come .

But if your playing WoW because its the number one game and you need it to be number one to validate your choice of game then thats a little sad .

Not many. 5 guilds that I know from WoW all at TOR at empire at same server. 347 gamers that beta tested the game, which met came from WoW. All old playing friends from wow called em to c my impressions of the game. All from WoW and are goin to play TOR.

NO.

No one is leaving. How can one say that.

All new to an MMO, yea right. Most currently playing are beta tester who have never played an MMO before, SURE. Good to know testers come so easily from the bench of console players.

Blizz will survive TOR but not beacuse no one is leaving WoW or because TOR is a new players game.

Pleaze blizz is 7 years old. Is the game that people go back all the time. And WoW is simply the most stable plataform there is.

Don't minimize a great game by degtrading their competitors.

Is txs the crazy fans of WoW, people that have mostly old computers, that don't play anithing else which make blizzard laizy in their game contents. And that's what is goin to affect blizzard not TOR.
