Played from launch til when WotLK came out, who else remembers these things?

-Having seperate trade chats and Auction Houses for each capital city (why everyone went to IF, and Darn was a ghost town)

- BG's were only from your server (sometimes it took hours to get one going, and you knew everyone who was dangerous)

- Having to form your own dungeon groups then *gasp* run to the actual dungeon (the only time I wanted to group with warlocks, me being a priest and all)

-MC RAIDERS

-Non-connected flight paths (you flew from each point on your own, and you better know which connected to which)

-Attunement quests in general (Ony, MC, BWL)

-AQ opening (and the lag wow)

-40 man raids

- Needing a hunter to put a mark on a mob (before targets came out)

-People trying to take the "shortcut" to the MC portal guy and falling into lava (cuz those chains were soooo far right? understandable on PvP servers I guess)

-When pretty much everything about dungeons was harder, mobs had more hp

-When quests weren't on the map for you to just see where to go (Thotbott ftw, "locs are cheating!" SHUT UP YOUR ON THOTBOTT TOO AREN'T YOU!)

-When hybrid classes in raids equaled healing classes

- DKP (this might still be used idk)

- Guild banks were usually a level 1 gnome permanetly parked by the IF mailbox and named something like "Bnkalt"

- When BC came out and all your epics were useless by 65 (for the most part)

-When that abomination thing in Duskwood (Stitches maybe) was ?? and always caught people off guard

-Making a Night Elf but wanting to level in Human areas and having to run through the Wetlands (so many ?? gators ate me up EVERY TIME)

- That quest for the Ony attunement that took place in SW keep and you got to watch Bolvar merc a bunch of dragons (and invariably kill a lowbie standing nearby)

- You're the bomb, don't move *5 seconds later* "WHO F****** MOVED?"

- If you knew that Leeroy Jenkins was fake simply by the strat they were using (and what the heck is a 33.333, repeating of course, survival chance?)

-When Arcanite Rapers were the bamf weapon, and if you had crusader omg

-The old PvP ranks, and how hard they were to get to the top

- When you could kite mobs forever (Kazzak in SW, until a GM had to put it down)

if anyone has any more things I really would like to look back at all the things that made WoW great, not the hold-your hand appeal to every 13 year old MMO it is now.

I was the Hunter class leader in the top raiding guild on my server back in those days. Lol @ needing class leaders because raids were 40 man and required that much coordination.

I was the main puller for the guild. Back in MC, you actually needed a semi-skilled hunter to pull mobs and FD in case of a fuck up.

No more skill required, and no need to pay attention anymore...

Any hunters remember the pain staking task of marking Garr adds with Hunter's Mark before the lucky charms....Would make me cry to spend 10 minutes marking and watch us wipe because a lock or two fucked up their banish assignment.

Fun times.

I would like to add:

- Dragons of Nightmare hunting ( Lethon,Emeriss,Ysondre and Taerar), which was a great PvPvE event

- Tyr's Hand gold farming, which 90% was ending in a mindless world PvP massacre

- the great quest for Quel'Serrar

- no horde paladins :P

-  NEVER-ending AV bgs

+ Barrens chat!!!

PS. Ony preQ was a totally different story horde side, not that pleasant, trust me....

I for one, liked the onypreq @ the horde side.

Also 20 man UBRS runs (later 10 man)

ganking people who were Skull to you, it was possible because damage ect was alot lower.

Also cozy waiting at BG portals (the pvp tab interface is nice, dont get me wrong) I really liked just sitting around with others, chatting, dueling ect, to do bg with those exact people after a brief moment.

fond memories

Ganksbrad.

Sneaking through the water and helping set up ambushes.

I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

I have to agree that onypreq was epic, BUT getting Draki's blood was too hard.. especially as a tank because the raid was ALWAYS letting tank killed during the last 5% just to be sure. Back then, only 2 or 3 players out of 15 were able to loot that quest item. Also, UBRS was never a 20man raid, only a 15man, and half of them were afk until Rend :P

Don't expect great artwork from a coder. It just doesn't happen.

A Horde quest that spawned an elite in SouthShore.  He was way over powered and would trash the place.

Currently in development Wizards and Champions (formerly ActionMMORPG)

- raiding Darkshire or X-roads with 40+ ppl just for fun

- good old-fashioned mass open world pvp bloodening... and the whole thing started because 2 guys needed the same mob :D

I remember when diminishing return wasn't implemented yet. Would wait out for lowbies questing at the bottom of the lake and sapping them. Eventually they would die from running out of breath.

I remember...when WoW was actually a great and amazing game that developers actually spent time making. You know back when it innovated ways of attracting its playerbase, while still staying true to WoW itself, at the core... Well then Wrath hit and i guess any further comment is practically summed up... [( -  - )] ZZzzz...

So who remembers that Orc's use to get 3 combo points per hemorrhage? :)

I guess my favorite thing isjust the way the game was. There was an element of danger then and you didnt kill three mobs all 5 levels higher than you  like you can now. The game was just challenging enough that players liked having some company. All the friends I made in WOW i made the first couple of years I played the game. One time I will never forget was a time me and two friends, a palidan and a mage, were in a cave in Ashenvale. My hunter ran out of ammo (vets will recall you had to buy shot or arrows back then)  lol. It was intense and a lot of fun getting out. I played with them a lot and have lots of stories. Thermalplug still gives me nightmares.Im still in contact with half a dozen or so people frome those days. Good times.

World PvP existed.  Mostly because LFD wasn't really developed beyond player made UI's and flying mounts were non-existent. (this was all a good thing).  Battle royals at Tauren Mill and Southshore.

I played alot of Hillsbrad Foothills world PVP in vanilla that was fun.  Running from Hillsbrad to the Scarlet Monistary was always exciting cause both alliance and horde were attempting to get into the instances also.

The PvE questing in the Night Elf starting zone was really amazing, it was my main character and the zones outside of it also in Teldrassil.  Basically all the PvE questing on alliance side was amazing along with geting groups togather to do all the instances.

The two most played instances for me in vanilla would have to be upper blckrock spire and the Strathlhome instance in the eastern plaquelands but I liked all vanilla instances.

-How your inventory was full of Flash Powder and poisons and how your wallet let out a sad cry when you had to Blind someone.

-Fact that Improved Sap was only 75% chance to survive

-You actually looked cool when walking in stealth

-Pre-Stat inflation PVP was quicker and kept you on your toes ( and gear differences didnt matter that much )

-No Flying Mounts

-Hunter trap spam , Moonfire spam , spam !

-Horde Exclusive + 2% hit Trinket

-Getting that once in a year Trash Blade + Sword Spec + Hand of Justice Proc of a proc of a proc of a proc etc etc

-How rarely anyone ever seemed to know what a PVP trinket was and when to use it ( applies to certain racials aswell )

-Every time when you zoned you had to re-apply poisons

-No Alliance Shamans

-Orc 90% practical stun resist vs rogues

-Seeing the masses of corpses caused by Undercity Elevators

some of these were actually minor annoyances haha but anyways best thing i remember was wondering how the game would improve over time .. wars between factions .. expanding the game horizonatally etc .. then BC hit and it became obvious that was going to be the road Blizz was taking and i quit at day1 of BC launch.
