Are you cerial?  It's one of them "in development" games, in a global recession.

It's running right now in South Korea. :) it's not doing very well there, but thats because the developer wanted to make its so the westerners (us) like it.

Looks like you can only build 1 house in ArcheAge with no NPC guards meaning it will take forever to grind for one, and it will be inulnerable because it takes forever to grind for one...and some pointless battleground.

Why not?

Bring the WAR back to warcraft.

I thought that's what trade chat was for.....

I agree with the sentiment of "that just won't work." I can only speak for myself, but....I love sandbox (UO vet), but I do NOT want to play with WoW's community. UO both pre and post Trammel were heavenly in comparison, and that....is saying a lot.  I would rather take a rusty knife to my own throat than play WoW as a sandbox. Just one opinion.

No it's not.  You must be thinking of Tera.  AA is still in closed Beta and is blowing people away in every stage of it so far.  TONS of vids out there to see how good it is, too.  Just google ArcheAge Closed Beta 3.

Conjecture.  Game is still in closed beta.  Pointless battleground?  A whole continent set aside for exactly everything you wrote in your original post, empire building, castle sieges etc, and you call it a pointless battleground?

I think you have WoW goggles on and they seem to be stuck.

If it's like Eve Online where it takes forever to build something then it will also have a trillion hitpoints and take forever to take one down; useless.

Wintergrasp isn't big enough for half the server.  It doesn't have enough empty space.  In fact it is WAY too small for this idea.

One of the reasons the developers created battlegrounds was because the servers couldn't handle hundreds of players in combat in the same area. They even put a limit on Wintergrasp for the same reason. I think your idea would actually prove quite popular. Unfortunately, I don't believe WoW's technical capabilities are up to such standards yet. They could try to distribute players to different areas, but inevitably there is going to be some huge clashes. At least, that is what I would hope for and expect from such a feature.

Create a gigantic new continent with nothing on it except mines, herbs and wildlife.
Allow players to construct castles, keeps, blacksmiths, houses etc, wherever they want except on steep ground (like in SWG or UO), every structure that was in the Warcraft RTS game.
Allow players to hire NPC peons will gather materials automatically, or a player could mine at a faster rate, like in Warcraft RTS.
Allow players to hire warriors, archers, mage NPC's to guard wherever they want them to guard like in Warcraft RTS.
Make everything cheap so it only takes about 1 player about 1 hour of grind time to build something moderately sized like a blacksmith.
Buff all player character HP/Armor/Mana/etc so they all equal the combat power of a level 85 character, although a level 1 characer won't have access to very many abilities.
Allow everything to be FFA PVP, and all player buildings are destructible and don't have a trillion hitpoints like in Eve Online.

That would bring in a lot of RTS'ers but not many Sandboxers I dont think.

That's sounds like it's too far on the Eve Online side of the spectrum where it takes years of grind to build a POS, and it has a trillion hitpoints.  I'm talking more on the RTS side of the spectrum where it takes 1 click to build something and 30 seconds to destroy it with 1 NPC unit.

I don't like Starcraft 2 cause the games are too fast, it's a clickfest, whoever outclicks your opponent and takes methamphetamines wins, you can't outthink your opponent when you're clicking like a tweeker.

But combine WOW with it's character development with RTS principles like construction and land ownership, slow down the RTS part of RTS, and boy you got a real winner.

You know what WOW is?  It's a glorified Donky Kong.
