Unofficial post by Aphel of mmowned.com

The source is a model editor and coder who has very, very good info. He had the Wrath dates and the Cata build updates days weeks before they were officially announced. His credibility thus far has been excellent, especially regarding lore predictions.

This just in! We have information from a reliable source that Cataclysm will launch 72 days from the current date. This means that Cataclysm may be released on November 18, 2010. While this is not an official announcement from Blizzard, we have good reason to believe that Cataclysm will be released anywhere between November 14th-18th. This means that we could see Patch 3.9 in mid to late September.

Patch 3.9 will launch all of the new 1-60 content, the new class/race combos (except Goblin and Worgen), and a host of pre-events that will culminate in Deathwing's emergence.

Tune in to MMOwned for more updates!

Note that this is NOT an official Blizzard news release. This is speculation from a very trusted source.

I hope this pans out, Blizzard hasn't done anything/mentioned the live version forever.

The only luck I had today was to have you as my opponent.

BC patch 3.0 hit on Oct 17 and WolK came on Nov 13 so...I don't expect patch 3.9 until late October. Probably Blizzcon week?

Yes, games that I play to pass the time should be time-consuming. That's why I play them.

I don't think they will release a major patch during blizzcon, main reason being that major patch always means major issues that snuck through testing.  That could cause some problems with their blizzcon timetyabels, I predict the 3.9 patch to hit just before blizzcon about 1-weeks or so to get the bugs ironed out on live servers, then an official release date announced at blizzcon that will in my opinion be mid late november.

Lol@ knowing his stuff.  lets see.  Blizzard have stated outright  there will be a 4.0.1 patch, which is downloading to your systems now.    That contains a lot of cata stuff that is for the base game ( no cata expack installed).

The 4.0.1 patch  will only contain class mechanic changes and item stat changes.  There will be another mini patch afterwards that will be just before cata release with the huge content that changes azeroth forever.  That mini patch will activate all new class/race changes.

So all these class and race changes, new zone content? Yea thats not coming out until cata release.   So youre "reliable source", who btw, is just an admin of a well known hackign /exploit site,   has no clue what theyre talking about.

All fine with me.  I'll be happy to reactivate my account when Blizzard finally gets around to releasing this stuff.  They can take their time all they want, but not on my coin.

And why would you? It will be the same thing yet again... Rush to level cap, grind dungeons, then heroics, then raids... rinse and repeat. Over, and over, and over, and over, and over again... I am proud to say I kicked this crap ass game once and for all, and it turns my stomach to even think about doing the same crap all over again... Have fun.

what he said.

I'll likely give Blizzard's next MMO (whatever and whenever that may be) a try, but I'm permanently done with WoW.  I'd rather grind away at mobs while progressing a character thru a story than just do a mad-dash to level cap and just grind dungeons or raids with a 5-20% chance I'll get one item that I want then do it all over again ad infinitum.

If you follow what has been announced and compare it to Wrath of the Lich King you get the following:

4.0.1 patch - This is pre-downloading and on the PTR now. The current version is not in a state for release in 3 weeks so while the guessed date is possible it is unlikely.

The Cataclysm event - this will start with the 4.0.1 patch and will continue until just before Cataclysm is released. During this event the World of Azeroth will be transformed and the current quests that are to be replaced will have that done. Since it is such a major event it could be 4 weeks or longer. It is definetly more involved than the 3.0 event.

The release of Cataclysm - Until there is an official annoucement I will not speculate. I do know that Gamestop is selling pre-orders for a November 1 release and Amazon is selling pre-orders for a January release. Since the Amazon date was announced recently they are probably more accurate.

So given that the 4.0.1 patch is not looking like past Blizzard expansion patches for being 3 weeks before going to live, I doubt that it will be out before November. I also doubt that the major reshaping event that they have been talking about will only be given a few weeks.

So all of this adds up to my being very skeptical that these will be the actual dates. I do beleive that at one point this was the plan.

I will say that players that rush to end game in any MMO will be feeling the way that you do and will probably be missing much of the story.

Remeber in WoW over 95% of the players do not complete all of the content in an expansion in the 2 years between expansions.

Are you currently playing an MMO? Just curious to see what game you are playing, cause though I am excited for Cata, I fear the same thing, and well that kinda sucks.

If you hate repetition, MMORPGs might not be the right place to be going for gaming entertainment.

I've read that based on Amazon emails to people with pre-orders, people are now predicting sometime in January.

Say what you want, but Blizzard does what they do well. Nobody can match them for easyily accessible gaming. It helps tremendously that their basic game systems are generally fun.

I'm tired of the leveling treadmill myself, but I'll probably give them expansion at least a month or two of play.

I agree with this, the only problem is it doesn't really feel like it matters whether or not you finish the content up to level cap. Its all about hitting cap and raiding :(

I would love for in Cata there be more things to do in the game while leveling, as well as at the level cap.

Well yes repetition can get old, but I do enjoy MMOs more so for the character progression and community.  I'm ok for now playing MMOs, was just wondering what they were playing is all.

I hear you, but I love MMO's, and if there are no good ones out (good ones that aren't 100 years old), I play polished ones.  And we all know WOW is the most polished MMO ever made.
