The hype that VG, AoC and War have is not lesser than WoW. But the problem is they are beine release too early and the problem to their core gameplay. Tons of promise but non during launch. So thats why their subs drop sharply. VG maybe a better game now interms of pve as compare to WoW, but unless soe somehow wakeup and decide to put in more effort in advertising it, and ignore EQ2 for awhile, i dont think it will ever pick up again... its sad, but what to do???
Yeah I know ...Sad but true! SOE are idiots for not realizing the potential of Vanguard! |

I played last the last beta event for Aion. This game doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell in competing with WoW and it sure as hell won't draw away any significant number of players. I felt like I was playing the successor to EverQuest. Way too hardcore / tedious / grindy for most WoW players to be sure. I prefer casual games and casuals are the dominant base for WoW. If I didn't like Aion, then other casuals probably won't either. |

While I agree that Aion will not steal players from WoW. I found the game to not have much grinding. I do think there is way to much walking around for the quests. Took a hell of a lot longer to walk around to get to the locations then to do them. Some of you maybe be asking why I did not fly around, well if you haven't played, there are many places you just can't fly at :). |

Good luck with that. I don't think SOE could do anything to draw large numbers back. The game doesn't appeal to casuals, that's a given. I think the main reason why most hardcores aren't flocking to it is that they are really getting tired of EverQuest rehash games and VG is the biggest rehash out there right now. We've eseentially been stuck in MUD / DIKU mode for the last 15 years and we're all getting tired of it. |

time will tell . i did nt find aion any more of a grind that warcraft either . i ll be interested to see how the game pans out . it might be more difficult than warcraft is now but its about the same as wow was upon release . i know lots of older warcraft players find it far too easy now . it might not steal the 8-14 year olds from wow but i m pretty certain a lot of older ex wow players and ones that are getting fed up with the wow community being little more than a virtual schoolyeard might welcome it . i too think this will be the second most popular mmo . from what i gather it has anything between 1.5 million and 3.5 million subs already if thats true that means its already a great success . i was nt sure how well the game would translate in terms of gameplay to the western market but its fine . its no more a boring grind than warcraft is . whats some people may not like is that you cant play dwarves elves and traditional fantasy races . non of us can say what will happen for certain when aion is released . i remember people saying warcraft would be a niche game or that it was too childish to have much success a few years ago . essentially the same thing i m seeing now being said about aion . aion looks like its a quality game from what i ve seen of it and the only trolling i ve seen really comes from people that have played it for a short time and level the same cristisms as could be leveled at wow in its early stages or from people that have said they ve played on an asian server ( normally when you question them they go quiet which makes you wonder if they are telling the truth ) . all i can say is i think aion has the potential to dent wow more than any other mmo and i think its coming at a time when an awful lot of wow players are getting more and more jaded by blizzards attitude to its players . |
