Here's an excerpt from the official 5.2 patch notes:

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/8226552/?utm_source=internal&utm_medium=launcher&utm_campaign=wow&utm_content=news-textlink#class_priest

"Spiritual Healing is a new passive ability obtained by Discipline and Holy Priests at level 10. This ability increases the amount of healing done by Flash Heal, Binding Heal, Renew, and Prayer of Mending by 25%. The amount of healing done by those four spells have been reduced by 20%. For Holy and Discipline Priests, there is no change to the amount of healing done by those four spells."

So they give Priests an ability that increases the healing done by certain spells by 25% but then reduce the healing done by those spells by 20% (so + 5% total) but then they conclude by saying there is no change in the amount of healing done by those spells.

Not really sure what to say about that...

It's just some simple math really.

If all those spells for example used to heal for exactly 100HP baseline previously they will now only heal for 80HP  (20% less).  However with the spiritual healing skill for Holy/Discipline priests those same spells which now heal for 80HP will get an increase of 25% or 20HP in this case bringing the total back up to 100HP.

It's basically just a nerf to Shadow priest healing.

I'm not familiar with wow but this is what I get.

Passive skill gives +25% healing

-20% reduction won't affect discpline or holy priests

It was worded strangely.

Wouldn't that translate to nerf shadow priest healing by 20%?

It wasn't really worded poorly, they worded it exactly the way it will work.  If they would have worded it differently some of the information would have been lost.  I tried (during this post) a few different ways of making it easier to understand, but each time I left something out that if people would have noticed would have called a "stealth buff" or "stealth nerf."

That change was specifically aimed at nerfing Shadow Priest healing, it was mentioned awhile back they had planned this.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that was the intent.  I guess its easier than just adding extra coding to make those abilities lose 20% for shadowpriest only.  Rather than nerf everybody then buff the holy and disc back up to baseline.
