I've given it a lot of thought since I first heard about the new expansion.  In the end I think I'll definitely be going back to WoW for a bit.  I stopped playing it probably just before Black Temple was released. So I was thinking that I would start up now.  Try to find a decent guild.  Get my characters decently equipped.  Even raise a new alt or two, before new expansion.  Basically I need a good guide on dailies.  Back when I left I don't think they were around, at least if they were I don't remember.  So any advice or helpful hints for someone that has been out of the loop.  Would be greatly appreciated.

SO much has been changed. In fact AFTER BT, Blizzard started with the daily concept and huge badge gear choices which makes ALL end game gear different (you can even choose PvP gear with dungeon badges these days).

Also the attunement was dropped and WOtLK was (is) tx to its scaled difficutly in dungeons and Raid a far more group based game on 24/7 time/day. Even people without a guild raid and do dungeons these days on 24/7 basis.

It can't really all be told in a few lines. Twinks are gone. BG's give experience, you can SHUT down experience for good etc...

But there's some hints : if you want to level a new character: wait till patch 3.3 comes out (I guess in around 3 weeks).

Why? The cross server dungeons is a boost to group (dunegon) play while leveling.

If you want to play with your old characters at 70: look into the possibilities of the dual specs of your class (be it PVE/PVP or different roles in healing/tanking/dps). I wouldn't level through PvP though as you'll miss the excellent landscapes of Norhrend.

The biggest change to me is focus on achievements and scaling difficutly these days. Gear is nice, but the challenge in the game is that you set out your own goals these days. Much more sandbox elements in the end game.

Gear can still be a playing option (Tier wise or sets wise), but mostly it is about getting those achievements and status symbols (titles, pets, mounts) in game these days.

I will go too with another character in patch 3.3, as it is the last time we will get through basic Azeroth before CAT and the new cross server dungeons will allow me to do the dungeon quests from level 15 to level 79 without waiting times.

Probably level a tank for the first time throughout.
