SOE updates us on what's been going on in the Vanguard offices during the summer convention season, including whispers of Game Update 6 which is set to fix over a thousand bugs.
Of course, conventions and demo's aren't all we've been up to – Game Update 6 should be headed to the Test server soon, and with it players can expect to get a glimpse of the new character models and have a nearly bug-free experience in Telon! GU6 will contain the largest bug fix that Vanguard has ever experienced. The development team has logged well over a thousand bug fixes for this update, and the number is still growing!
The art team has had the pleasure of employing two summer interns, who are very talented artists hoping to work in the industry. Hopefully we'll have an interview with them soon, and show off some of the great concept art they've drafted – but in the meantime, you can see that they're working on some new "monk-like" armor that will eventually make its way into the game (and utilize the new character models!)

I like the fact that they made mention of new armor sets being developed. Bug fixes and optimizations are great and will always need to be top priority with Vanguard, but its nice to see them still focus on adding more to the game than just bug fixes.
Keep up the good work, can't wait to see whats in store.
In one of the latest VoV, Silius said that they will start to focus on new content while still fixing the remaing bugs. It`s a good thing for this game as it deserves more than just the lame release players have been the victim.
So when are we going to have an expansion?
They now look like eq2 models.
Gah, just when I was going to try out Vanguard....Hope sony isn't updating the characture graphics like they did in EQ - that was (and still is) horrible looking faces.
Well everything better then what it is now. Now it's just plain horrible.
The game has come along immeasurably. The fact is that no MMO is completely perfect or bug free but it is nice to see that the game is getting the love and attention that it deserves. I for one am excited about the new character models and if they do look a bit "EQ2ish" it's no wonder as members of the EQ2 team we assigned the task of saving this game from itself really. I'm looking forward to the preview at Fan Faire this weekend. As for an expansion I hear they are more concerned with getting everything smooth and shiny and hopefully rereleasing or otherwise expanding the player base, but who knows?
Exploiting interns desire to get a foot hold in to the industry all in the name of keeping their cost down and their wages low for talent worth far more. All in the name of fat profits for the guys at the top. These companies can pick and choose interns they take on. They know they're picking the most talented interns out the crowd , and despite their inexperience are still very capable of producing professional results if put on a dev team for their field of expertise all for rock bottom prices.
So when is the trial going to be available, not hearing anything about that. I've wanted to give this a try but am not prepared to pay in case it isn't something I'm going to like. there has been talk about this but I haven't heard anything recently... Maybe a announcement forthcoming?
So what are interns used for?
Cushion warmers?
Someone that wasn't allowed to do anything on their internship and someone that actually did something one their internship. One of those two have learnt more then the other one.
Who do you believe appreciate the time spent as an intern the most?
It's good to see something's still happening with our greatest loss, since WISH.
Maybe I'll reactivate my account in 09, to see how things have progressed.
Does anyone know if there's screens online of the new character models?
There's been no mention of another trial, to my knowledge.
You can buy the COLLECTORS edition off eBay or Amazon for $10, and the regular version for far less.
I'd suggest going that route instead.
I bet you those interns are very happy to be getting the opportunity and industry experience, even if they're working hard for low wages. If they can do good work, they'll be at the top of the list to be hired full-time by the company at a later time. Either way, having this position on their resume puts them miles ahead of those without it when applying elsewhere. This is a win-win, and I'd like to see it happen more often.
yeah I agree. I would love to have this opportunity as an intern. It would be excellent way into the industry.
