I agree, it has been a long stretch without a real competitor to the current champions WoW and L2. However, we have 4 big MMOs within the next 6 months. Vanguard, LotR, Age of Conan and Warhammer Online all coming out, and even though 1 or 2 will probably fail in light of such hard competition, there will finally be a bit of fresh air in this genre.
Besides, they all cater to different crowds, well perhaps Vanguard and LotR to the same really, either way they ll be attractive to a lot of players. |

Brad has said if everything goes right they hope to release in March. My guess is thats very unlikley. Spring at the earliest Winter 2007 at the latest. Most likley Summer next year. |

Where did he say March? I'm pretty sure he just said Winter 06-07. The latest beta newsletter mentions that Kojan will soon be in beta and that they adding polish to existing features. My guess is that this means we are close to the next beta stage and a few months off release...ie Jan 07. I might be wrong, but I definately do not believe that it will be Summer...that would zap Vanguard in terms of competition with the other 07 MMOs. All hail the Pixel, for it is glorious Orange!

I know it doesn't mean a whole lot, but EB Games has changed their release date from 01 Jan 07 to 29 Jan 07. They've changed it 10 times before, but not by just a few weeks. And they've added the game cover.
Who knows when it will be, exactly (I'm certainly not going to hold my breath), but with the focus on details and not the big picture, it's got to be getting close. |

He said on the forums in a quote two to three months ago that they hope if everything goes well to release ebtween January and March. To me that that means March at the earliest and most likley means April to Summer but considering how much needs to be done it would not be surpiring to see theis game not released until winter of 2007-2008. |

Before all, I am also impatient but we should understand this and actually tell them to take all the time they need to fnish and polish Vanguard... if We don't want another World of Warcraft. if your one those that still think that Blizzard is giving free content for everybody You are hell wrong. The true is that Blizzard is not giving anything that you didn't previouslly installed to in your five 5 cds and that can be easily proved. They just didn't finish World of Warcraft, because everybody during beta were very impatien and pushing devs, asking for a release. If you run World of Warcraft from you run world of warcraft from your pc as server / client you can start exploring the whole game and you can actually see that those zone you call free content from blizzard, including raiding zones were there, without population (quests/npcs) but they were there. Afterall and luckiily giving a incomplete game worked for Blizzard, we should not push SIGIL too much asking for a release, developing a game is a creative process, heck even developing applications like I do needs creativity, I can't imagine the preassure from all the sides, press, players, etc... Just because the persons behind them developed which used to be the most succesful mmorpg ever till World of Warcraft. But to be honest EverQuest is special and unique, it came from nowhere, just from the mind of those developers and without a background like World of Warcraft. The history with World of Warcraft is different, Rob Pardo had behind three succesful warcraft titles and why not the games like diablo and startcraft from the same company, EverQuest came from 0 and basically is the game that creates and give form to SOE. How the experience and background of the developers is going to help vanguard to become a succesful title, is something that we have to wait and see. But I think Vanguard is going to break the 6m customers, it could be fast as wow did or not. That will depend of how the Public relations and marketing of Both SOE/SIGIL works. Blizzard did an excellent job in those areas... Even if part of their of strategy is what I would call a shame for any gaming company and I hope SIGIL/SOE don't fall in that shameful strategy to promote Vanguard. Dimitrio Darkblade |

The general feeling I get from people in my guild who've been following the game very closely is that the game will be released late February/early March. Like others have said, i just hope they take the time to do it right and have a smooth release with all the content they promised.

There was talk a little while back that beta 4 should arrive about the turn of November. We can maybe put that back a couple of weeks for the few problems they've had, but that still means (considering 2 months for beta 4) that beta 5 should arrive mid January. If beta 5 (open beta) is the short phase (it has been said) then it could be over in a month. That would mean release mid February at the latest.
I'm still optimistic that the problems aren't that bad a deal and that they can meet a late January release. Definately not before then though. Summer is way too far away and winter next year is as unlikely as Kim Il-Jong turning around and saying 'ok I'll get rid of all my nukes'. I signed up for the Vanguard forums at the start of 2005, but have been following this game since way before then (silently). I don't want to wait any longer than January, especially seeing as they had said maybe spring this year, then it was summer, then before christmas etc etc. I'm fed up of waiting. I do respect Sigil's decision to make sure the game is perfect, but there is perfect and then there is worrisome. No game will ever be perfect when it launches. Come spring 2007 they are going to have stiff competition from a number of new titles; and as Vanguard is a niche game then they need to have a head start. I still think it would survive but I don't want to play a game that does not attract the attention it deserves and lower player numbers limits the potential. Only thing that does make me think I don't mind waiting is that Football Manager 2007 is out in a week, or so. That will keep me busy for a while, but I never seem to have the patience for single players for a huge amount of time anymore. I need to be MMOing and I am not playing another MMO. Vanguard is the only one I, personally, see as any kop. So come on Sigil. I'd far rather have an on schedule release that a beta spot. All hail the Pixel, for it is glorious Orange!
