Relax, neither of us have even played the thing and you're condemning the current state it's in. The only thing that is B.S. as you so eloquently put it, is believing anything an NDA breaker says, good or bad. |

I wouldn't be able to say if I have played it or not. |

This is exactly what you said, "A major revamp would be that the scrap the whole thing, or make something else out of it." So anything they do to the combat system short of scrapping it or making something entirely else out of it wouldn't constitute a "major revamp" according to your own words.

did it ever occur to you that just maybe most (if not all) the beta leaks are from people that don't like the game and don't care if they get removed from beta? i know this is commonly used to defend the current state of beta, and I'm not defending it because i honestly don't know. but if you really think that the reason all the beta leaks are negative because everyone dislikes it, then i would have to strongly disagree with that logic. people that actually like vanguard and actually want to test it are not going to break the NDA, another thing you should think about is....how many NDA leaks have there been since beta3 began vs how many people are actually playing it? now if all those thousands of people or even a good amount of them hated it and didn't care if they played it or not, wouldn't you think there would be a wild fire of NDA leaks? odds are not looking very good for the NDA breakers is it? now that is something that you cannot ignore. |

That was a example for "Major". |

We have a HUGE problem. There are two kinds of gamers these days: the new ones (people starting to play MMORPGs) and the old ones. The new ones just like games like WoW, DAoC, EQ2, L2, etc cuz is all new for them. The old ones... well.. we want soemthing new! We call it 3rd generation and we, in general, define it as "the new line of games which will be created using all what was learned in the previous ones". People, what we want is a game tailored for our tastes!!! LOL Come on! You know it's the truth! We want "what we have in our minds". Eventually a new great game, like WoW, will come out... drain millions of people... and we will call it the first 3rd generation but... we, the old ones, won't be totally happy with it cuz it won't be as perfect as we want. The simply truth is that we are getting tired of the games we play and we want a new one that covers 99.99% of out wishes. It will be hard... I hope someone can come up with a game so complex (cuz oldies want complexity while new ones, generally, don't want that), beatiful in graphics and so uber that we will all dance around like nuts! About the beta discussion... I think both are right. In beta things will change, somethings may be revamped (like the diplomacy that was mentioned) but we all know that the changes wont be huge... not even important. They are in the beta, and even in the final betas! The concepts were already defined and won't change fast. Of course, Beta will allow them to make a list of nice to have and start the reworking but I don't think anyone will revamp too much or that will meant delays. I do think, after reading several posts, that they may revamp the fighting system but... maybe revamp is too big of a word here. They will "fix" it. Changing the core at this point will be too costly but you never know... ;) |

The thing is that a lot of people are starting to get pretty fed up with Wow. Don't take me wrong! I like it a lot! But the fact is that it's starting to get boring to play. After a year and a half (since EU relese), you've seen the world, done the end content (or most of it), grinded your ass of and fell asleep while crafting. Burning Crusade wont change much of it either (as far as combat and crafting goes). I say the world of MMO's is waiting for something new and more complex. Mabye not new, but different. To get excited over a cool spell, to see a new area, to get someting satisfaction from crafting and to meet new people. It doesn't matter if the game is 2nd 3rd or 10th gen as long as it feels fresh!! I hope Vanguard is that game, cus otherwise ... |

Haha, i still remember arguing with the silky venom vanbois trying to say it wasnt similar to eq2 in beta 2. Having played dozens of mmo's there were no two games that seemed as alike as eq2 and vanguard. Does that mean it will be the same at release? No, but i would be more surprised than not if it wasnt.

True, they look extremely alike. But for me thats not exaclty a bad thing. The things that ruined EQ2 for me war the points that Mike#### said. |

The problem developers have with MMORPG is the player's attention span. We do get bored with games, doing the same thing over and over, seeing the same zones, same monsters, etc for a two year period gets old after awhile. Both EQ2 and WOW came out almost 2 years ago, do you think it is really unusual that a game cannot grab a players attention after two years and hold it like it did when it was new? Therefore, there is a life span to a MMORPG. Developer's try to counter this with spiffy, new ideas. Sometimes these are a radical departure, like EQ2 combat and crafting, or the SWG revamp. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. But in the end, most of these are just a temporary fix, as the gameplay itself gets old. And we get bored with it. How many of you are still regularly playing any games that came out 2 years ago? |

Tell that to the poor buggers who still are stuck on EQ or DAoC. The fact is for a game to have a longer lifespan than the gamecontent is, foremost, the comunity, and seccondly, expantions for the community to interact in. But other than that, there is no way in hell!!

Yup, and I always find my car keys in the last place I look. What chuckle head is going to say 'wow, this is a great game...I think I will jepordize my playing it by poping off about it on the fourms to look cool'? Dont get me wrong, I have never been sure this game was for me, but I think Brad has earned the right to say 'trust me' and not be laughed at. |

I'm currently playing EQ and having as much fun as I have ever had. I have had many breaks from the game. I jumped on DAoC when it came out, but eventually went back to EQ. I broke for SWG, but even though I loved the world (and I am not even a big SW fan), the gameplay was shallow and I eventually made my way back to EQ. Then there was my longest break of almost two years where I went back and gave SW another spin (BE was so cool, but the game was still shallow), played COH (so fun at first, but once again a shallow game), and played DAoC for a while. Heck, I might still be playing DAoC if they could have directed the combat back to RvR and not so much just PvP. I tried EQ2 and WoW and although both had some very good points and advances, they still didn't do it for me. I even gave RF online a short run. But in the end, both the gameplay and the community of EQ won me back over. I have been back about five months now and am still going strong. Heck, the one thing I think may prevent me from playing Vanguard will be the fact that I am still having fun in EQ.
