Read the FAQ, answers to a massive list of questions, some of it is outdated but it still gives a good feel for what it going on and what the goals/ideas are for the game.

Other than that if you wish there is a lore section on the main site and the official and silky venom forums that tend to have much better informed people on what is actually going on with the game.  Yes plenty of rabid debates like any other forum but on the whole better general knowledge.

I am done with this forum, too many trolls, too many blindly negative people, too many lazy people who want to criticise without have a clue what they are talking about and convice others about things that they have no idea on themselves.  No question there are also some blindly positive people as well but most of them are not trying to spread false info, they are simply stating they are excited.

Vanguard is EQ1.5.

It's the old EQ with it's antiguated game systems and problems packaged in current graphics.  The old EQ was revolutionary for it's time but it's time has come and gone.
