Why don't you rework, rebuild and repolish VG. Bring it back closer to the original vision. There is too many easy mode games that flood the market these day's. Make it deeper and bigger then ever. Release it as "EQ Next" or "EQ Trials of the Vanguard" The game has so many great assets. Hate seeing so much great work going to waste. |

They are already working on EQ: Next but who knows when it will be released. When it does I expect it to feel oddly similar to VG.... I honestly don't know what to expect with the updates coming to VG and I'm more baffled by the motive. I think from the general annoucement through the release of the update(s) SoE will be watching sub and trial numbers carefully. I can't shake the feeling they are testing the waters and if the updates bring in a healthy amount of new people they will plan further work. There still isn't a comparable game to VG in this generation of MMOs. Here's to hoping the updates revitalize the game and we can all feel like we're being supported again. |

Vanguard, on the other hand, was really a moderate success even at launch. |

All one has to do is follow the way SOE treats EQ2 and you will see they have VERY little knowledge to creativity. Every single piece of content that comes out for EQ2 is the exact same thing over and over, notihng ever changes, just more maps more items. All that has happened since the launch of EQ2 is SoE has taken what little depth areas there was and streamlined them down to simpleton mode. One perfect example all classes rely on ONE stat, and everyone shares Stamina,it is as cheap a design as you can get.Every single level of crafting follows the exact same patterns, combat at every single level feels the exact same. This is what i call WOW cloning, take a genre that is FULL of potential for depth and just make it so simple a 10 year old can play it with ease and they do. My point is ,do not ever expect SOE to make Vanguard any better if anything they will streamline it and turn it into a cash shop if they feel it has any lasting power.I hoever feel VG is as good as gone as soon as they need the servers for a new MMO. Smedley has already said that they are going cash shop with every game now,so i would stop supporting SOE.BTW i don't mind cash shop games if they don't make items cash shop ONLY,this is not SOE's stance they want to make you pay[extra] to get all the games materials/content. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

Originally posted by Wizardry I think you are wrong about EQ2. It has too many stats that are completely out of whack. 200% crit ratings, 150% crit mitigation etc.. it's ridiculous. The problem with EQ2 is there is hardlly any testing and they just don't seem to care about anything but their Station Cash. They have no freakin idea what they are doing with their stats, itemization, raid progression, it's all about just pumping out as much housing crap and squirrel mounts for $20 a pop. It's a freaking mess. This last update was shocking. The fact that they would release Game Update 61 with a total item revamp the way they did is inexcusable. At this point, I just don't think they can fix it. Actually they probably could fix it, but that would cost alot of man hours that could be devoted to making squirrel mounts for station cash. And EQ2 is their top game... about Vangaurd... yeah right. I think one should ask themselves though. Is Vanguard better off with SOE just doing nothing? I think, sadly, the answer is yes. |

Originally posted by laserit Hmmmm. I thought it was a pretty damn good game; however, with less then a server full of folks.. I just don't see it happening. Shame really, cause it had a ton of potential imo. |

While Vanguard has many good things I always found it a bit.. meh. Not great in anything but not bad. But SOE allready put a ton of money and time into this game with very little resutls, why would they put more time and money in past experience has shown it will unfortuantely, not do any good. Plug the money into something that has a better chance of becoming more successfull I say. If it was my money and my investment on the line, I wouldn't put any more money into it - I just don't think it would do any good. Venge You know, in ancient Egypt. One of the hieroglyphics on the walls of the pyramids actually says 'I am upset as my heir will ruin my kingdom' or something to that affect. This is 5000BC stuff and you know what? Nothing has changed. :P |

Same reason why Dark Age of Camelot is rotting away, and Asheron's Call 2, etc. |

Originally posted by Squal'Zell I think SoE should do this too. I don't really go around spouting that because it's kind of a rude slap in the face for the few fans that like to play the game, but if I was running SoE I would close down all of their old crap (not just SWG) and focus on their successful stuff and especially their upcoming projects. It's easy for me to say that because I've tried the game a few times and it bores me, not to mention I think the character models are hideous. I can understand the players wanting attention for the game, but I think it's pretty much a lost cause. |
