Well I've never tried Vanguard but I keep hearing how poor this game has done, it seems to have very little to a non-existent population and it is poorly maintained by SOE. The game doesn't even have an expansion for a game that came out in 2007. Isn't this rather concerning? It sounds like a game that's on the virge of death from the sounds of it, probably discouraging me from trying it really. As the title says, is it even worth it? Want to Play: The Secret World Played: Aion, Allods Online, AoC, Champions Online, Dungeons & Dragons Online, Earth Eternal, EQ2, Knights Online, LotRO, Runes of Magic, WAR, WoW. |

The lack of Devs is more concerning. Vanguard has zero full timeDevs . I love Vanguard. It is a great game and everyone should play it at least once. But I hate what SOE has done to the game. They have refused to fund the game since they tookover in May, 2007. Speculation is they did not want it to compete with EQ2 and piss off their EQ2 investors. Thery really should make the game F2P. Especialy with it getting almost no new content. But then again people might play it if it was F2P and realize what a great game it is and see how SOE has starved it to death. Just imagine how good Vanguard could have been if another company had bought it other than SOE. So much wasted potential. |

It has a small but very loyal fan base. There seems to be people on whenever I'm om and I play weird hours. The world is so vast, however, you can go for a time without seeing anyone else.

Not to me. I take the game for what it is. I enjoy it for what it is and expect no more or less about it. I do know they are going to be adding two updates this fiscal year so there is that. |

It is one of the reasons, not the only one. |

with such a big world there is alot to from 1-55, and that's just as far as adventuring goes. |

I think the fact that the game isn't very fun makes it not worth playing. That's just my opinion, please don't kill me. Honestly though, even if I did like the game, it's really hard to play a game that has had very few hours of development time put into it in four years. It's an MMO', these things require constant development, not a four year stagnation.
Anyways, there is a trial. It's kind of a pita to find, or at least it was me for when I tried it. Check the soe forums or google. |

It's not the lack of players that make the game not worth playing... it's the lack of support. |

I don't thing lack of support should stop ppl from trying this game. If you played all the content available right now you could get a good years worth of fun at least. |

Not a single mention of a trial on the front page. It's like they'd rather not have people try their game. |

the picture on the top cycles through and shows a 14 day trial, although i agree they should do something better. |

Once they announced that they were continuing working on it. . and a patch actually came out the population seemed to grow. I had a great time. To anyone that says it is not fun I would suggest skipping the crafting and politics on the starter island until you have finished the adventure stuff. I thought it was dull the first time through as well but had a blast last time. Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is! |

A lot of people don't mind the low population as Vanguard has plenty of positives to make up for the negatives; however, Vanguard is filled with content that is meant to be experienced in a group. You may find that you're simply unable to see and do a lot of the things you want due to the fact that there aren't enough agreeable players around your level range to help you with your task. |

The population is actually starting to increase a bit. I played at launch and got discouraged quickly. I'd say it's worth giving a try at least. One of the best things you can do is start at the Isle of Dawn and join a guild. Twighlyte Song has a ton of members and has at LEAST 20+ members on at any time of the day, and 30+ during peak hours. So yeah give it a go. Games played: Currently playing: |

The low pop IS a problem because there is a lot of groupcontent. The main city is like a ghosttown. Besides im not prepared to pay a monthly fee without any support whatsoever. If SOE really believed in this game they would have invested some money in support and developement WOW,eq2,Vanguard,WAR,LOTRO,AOC,Rift Aion, SWTOR etc. Currently subbed to TERA. |

People keep saying there is no support but MMORPG has an recent interview made buy close people to the game a month or two ago saying two updates are coming out. Vanguard even posted the same interview on their website. So they have support its not on the lines of EQ2 or WoW or even some other mainstream MMO's. Like i said before people the Community will help you with any answer you have for the game. Not only the Community but GM's are on ever day live in the chat channels talking with the players joking interacting with players making sure their experience is the best they can possible offer. From what it looks like most of these people that are talking about Vangaurd. havent logged on recently because there is always something to do for players or questions are being answered from any vet player/GM for returning players beginners.
Check out the screen shot thread i have a few GM shots. I'll be getting one of Doe the best GM in the business. |
