Halgar is abandoned yes, it was announced that Halgar will be merged with Telon but then they didnt do that for some reason. However, eventho you already started on Halgar, you can contact in-game support or through the ticket system to get transferred, which should happen for free and within a week or two (character is available for play during that period).

The game is having an upswing for sure. Very good game, and incredibly deep. 

Kinda bored while waiting for Dawntide so I need something to pass the time..

What server is everyone joining? And is it REALLY coming back to life?

There's only one US server while the other is EU. Yes, the game is picking up. I've noticed a decent difference in player volume in just this month. Join the guild Twylight Song, it's a great guild with a ton of members, and they're all nice and incredibly helpfull. 20+ members on at any time of the day from what I've seen.

Just got the game on steam for 8$ + 30 day free.  Be there in 10 :P

Err ... I wouldnt call Halgar "dead" but its 20-40 people playing vs 200-400 people on Telon (both at their best playing times, mind - its pretty easy to be completely alone on Halgar if you log on an unusual time).

And there is only one guild active on Halgar that is (a) german (b) requires members to be age 25 or older. They work on having a raid force, though.

Not tried EU server but the North American seems rock steady and so far lag free,even though for testing purposes i've whacked up my settings it still is superb and latency is no problem and as i'm a Brit,that's all the better.

Bloody hell u must be really patient !!,only jokeing but i do think Dawntide has potential to be one hell of a sandbox but it maybe a while yet,and yeah there is a general buzz about VG i think this sites review and the general interest that SOE are at last takeing is attracting old and new players alike.

Some irl friends called me out of the blue to tell me that 3-4 of them are giving it a go.  I'm back as a result.  If you put aside all the stuff you hear about it being a dead game and actually just focus on playing I bet you will find yourself plenty in Telon.

Will be doing the 14 day trial soon, looking forward to it.

I've been on the fence coming back. I did the 14 day trial and liked it a lot. Just wish I could get some friends to join with me. They are all playing League of Legends. Hmmmmmmm.

 

Really glad to hear it's picking up. Definitely making it more tempting for me.

I am really starting to sound like a shil here,but VG is really starting to pick up new players and returning vets alike had 5 in my party as we cleared temple quest,and most were re-subbing just hope Sony  see the light with support and maybe F2P might really start the VG ball rolling again.

IMO what would help is, merge the two servers left and create a new fresh server and market it almost as a relaunch :P I like the idea of that myself, but I doubt that will happen!

Having got the Staion pass at a good price i wanted to make the most of it so i bought a copy off amazon for £1 .

At present i only pay VG occasionally inbetween real life and EQ2x but i have a character on both servers definately less lag on the eu one for me. I know the US one is the most popular but i want to support the EU one and hopefully it will be the start of a bigger population. This game has such potential although it doesnt nanny you like WOW and other mainstream games.

Any how if you do log into the Halgar EU server stop and say hi my name is "Vestanpance" as i play at various times of day am still on the Isle of Dawn at the mo. I would say the game is more populated than DCUO in europe

You should roll on Talon server. You will get a far better experience on that server. As Halgar is pretty much abandoned right now. Most people transfered to Talon a while ago!

Even during EU primetime there are over 400 people online on Talon server.

Twighlyte Song is currently the most active guild there with around 20-30 people online during EU primetime even. :)

Continued support is the key. I don't thing F2P is that important. Quality will win out. SOE, if they stick to their plan will gradually grow VG. People are coming back everyday. And they usually bring a friend with them eventually. The retention rate seems good. Lots of old friends showing up all the time. Some official update on the content would be nice.

Ditto.  This was the best PvE MMO game I have ever played.  I'd come back in a heartbeat if I had friends to join me.  Most play stupid LoL.  I play it too, but the community are a bunch of rotten tomatoes.  I can only stand it in spurts.  On topic though, my friend are I are trying out AoC right now.  Nothing looking like hooking us so far and all of us agree we're going back to try VG after our 1 month of AoC.  So I suspect w'ell be playing in a month :D.  With the upcoming releases I can't say, but VG has a special spot in my MMO experience and I really miss it.
